Sparrows North (Buxton) holiday home details

Sparrows North is a well-presented and spacious period town house that has recently undergone extensive refurbishment to a high standard. The property boasts breathtaking views over Buxton and the Derbyshire Peaks.

Set over three storeys, Sparrows North has recently been refurbished by the current owners to bring you luxurious home comforts such as underfloor heating in the bathroom and super king size beds in three of the bedrooms. Yet you’ll still find charming, period features throughout the property, including the original fireplaces, baker’s ovens, coving and sash windows, as well as wood burning stoves.

With four double bedrooms, two shower rooms, a family bathroom and an en-suite bathroom, there’s plenty of space for up to eight of you to enjoy a relaxing break. The pretty, terraced garden is on two levels, accessible from both the garden sitting room on the first floor and from the boot room on the ground floor. For children’s safety, the steep garden steps are gated.

The property is about ten minutes’ walk away from the centre of Buxton, one of the UK’s most beautiful towns, while being close to local attractions such as the Pavilion Gardens and Buxton Opera House. You’ll find an excellent selection of restaurants, pubs and shops very close by too. Known as the ‘Gateway to the Peak District’, Buxton is the perfect location for exploring the beauty of this unique national park.

Attractions and nearby amenities

  • Buxton is a beautiful, historic market and spa town with fine Georgian and Victorian architectural gems, such as the Georgian Crescent (currently being fully restored), the Octagon, the Devonshire Dome and Buxton Opera House.
  • The Pavilion Gardens in Buxton have won numerous awards and it’s easy to see why. You’ll find 23 acres of beautiful gardens to wander through, as well as a children’s play park, an adventure playground and a miniature railway.
  • Want to get to the heart of the Peak District? Then it’s worth a visit to Poole’s Cavern, where you can explore the limestone caverns beneath the rugged beauty of the national park. Or if you prefer being above ground, you’ll find superb walks and views at Grin Low Woods.
  • If you have a hobby or an interest, you’ll be able to indulge it here in Buxton. Literature, the arts, music, comedy, food, you name it, they’ve got a festival for it!
  • If you’re bringing young ones or you’re young hearted yourselves, you’ll want to get into the swing of things at Go Ape. From flying down a zip wire to leaping off Tarzan Swings, it’s exhilarating fun, and all with the backdrop of the Peak District National Park.
  • Speaking of which, the national park is never far away here at Buxton, England’s highest town. The peaks to the north are the rugged ‘Dark Peak’, while the land to the south is gentler and known as the ‘White Peak’. Whether you’d like to scramble up Kinder Scout, or stroll over the stepping stones at Dovedale, there’s plenty to enjoy.
  • If you enjoy visiting stately homes, Haddon Hall is one of the best. Dating back to the middle ages, it’s home to a beautiful Elizabethan terraced garden.
