We treated our family to 3 nights in this beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet location for A's 70th birthday and we stayed two extra nights, despite the changeable weather we picked the right times to explore this fabulous area. The walk from Mill End Hotel to Fingle Bridge Inn is one of the best walks we have ever done all along the river Teign. Thank you very much.

Fantabulous place! Fantabulous countryside which brings back nostalgic memories! Awesome hosts who have ensured every small and minute aspects for the visitors (that too considering we had a 4 year old and a 9 month old). Words are difficult to explain our small but wonderful experience at the Aarons. We should say we had the most fantastic time here in the UK. Thank you for the gorgeous cake and welcome hamper.

Thank you for a wonderful stay in this cosy, comfortable, quiet and peaceful cottage. What a treat to have bunches of beautiful flowers and a welcome hamper to greet us. Aarons is so well placed to visit local attractions, but the best bit is that you can abandon the car and enjoy walks from here with stunning scenery. The perfect holiday retreat.

Thank you so much Louise for a fantastic stay at Aarons. We stayed here with my family for our wedding and could not have asked for a more perfect property to be in before our wedding day. Everything was so clean, a home made victoria sponge to greet us as well as lovely toiletries. Louise was so helpful and even left us a wedding day card which we really appreciated! Could not have wished for anything more. Thank you so much!!

We stayed at Aarons in early August 2016 for a week. There were two families in our party - 4 adults and 4 kids (all 10y or younger) - and Aarons fitted the bill perfectly. Tucked away in a secluded location (no traffic noise!), lovely views over the surrounding countryside, lots of space and light, and great facilities, this converted barn was a delight to stay in. Whilst the kids busied themselves with the ping-pong downstairs in the garage, playing hide and seek in the garden, or enjoying one of the many supplied games and toys, the adults could sit out on the generous high level patio sipping a cup of tea from a fine china mug and enjoying a slice of home made Victoria sponge. Aarons is ideally located for enjoying all Devon and Cornwall has to offer, being just a mile or 2 off the A30 and, whilst driving most places takes a while (unless it's on main roads), we enjoyed trips to Drogo Castle, Dawlish beach (highly recommended!), The Eden Project, Woolacoombe beach, Hey Tor and many others.

The house is upside down with 3 of the 4 bedrooms downstairs, and the kitchen and living space upstairs. This makes perfect sense as the light just pours in through the Velux ceiling windows. It's full of character with higgledy-piggledy wooden beams and a sloping roof, but it's been converted to a very high standard and feels most luxurious. The two main bedrooms are generous in size, with the two twins being more than adequate (one is smaller than the other). The beds! Oh my, the beds. These were quite the most comfortable any of us had slept on for some years. We all commented to each other how well we slept and even the kids mentioned them! All the rooms had blackout curtains so it was nice and dark at night time for the kids. The kitchen is a decent size and very well equipped with more than enough to cater for 8 people - there was even a juicer! It was also really pleasing to have a washing machine and dryer in the utility room downstairs which meant we could quickly wash the kids swimming costumes and towels after a day at the beach.

Our whole group were sad to leave Aarons at the end of the week and we all agreed it was one of the best houses we've been to from Rural Retreats. Our only grumble, and it is a small one, is that there's just one shower downstairs - there are 2 other bathrooms, but they have baths with shower attachments and aren't designed for use standing up. But it really didn't bother us.

This is a truly delightful property which comes highly recommended.

What a magical place this is, both Aarons and the Devon countryside it inhabits. We even got lucky with mostly sunny weather. We will surely be back!

We have stayed in quite a few cottages through rural Retreats as we know they are of very high quality.
We chose the above cottage for a family break over the new year and were not disappointed, the standard of accommodation was excellent, fantastic upstairs living room area that had so much space for everyone including a tiny 18 month old who loved being able to run up and down, stair gates provided and locks on cupboards meant Mum could relax and leave him to it.
So much is provided from the lovely hamper in the kitchen to the toys and games for kids and adults and with an endless supply of logs you had to tear yourself away from the cosy lounge.
Despite the awful weather we managed to have some great walks and visit lovely villages on Dartmoor, our location meant we were close to everything Dartmoor has to offer.
Louise 'the owner' was very helpful with suggestions for local pubs and even gave us a takeaway menu for a curry house that would deliver ( amazed they got through with all the local flooding).
We will definitely return to Aarons, maybe a springtime visit.
Thanks for a great stay!
