Our second stay here at Apple barn! Had a brilliant week, we loved walking to Mill Bay Beach and to Gara Rock. We went on the coastal walk from Gara Rock to Mill Bay with our puppy Rosie, she loved it too!.
Salcombe is great for fish and chips at the Fortesque Inn. Ice creams and pasties from the Salcombe bakery. We had a lemonade at the Ferry Inn and watched all the boats on the sea. We only wished we had more time to go crabbing of the edge of the Jetty. Lovely mealy at the Millbrooke Inn. Loved the barn, the views, the cows and the sunsets. We walked everywhere - thank you.

Another lovely stay at Apple barn. Had some great days in the sun at Mill Bay and enjoyed a boat ride top Salcombe. Can highly recommend the Salcombe bakehouse for sandwiches, pasties and cakes. For the best cream tea we have ever tasted, I would go to springfield farm shop near Frogmore.
Thank you for the delicious hampers. We hope to return again some day.

We had a fantastic holiday. Teh cottage is very cosy with a fantastic view. The Children loved their beds in the loft reached by the ladder, swimming at Millbay and Gara Rock Beach, the Bear & Blacksmith. The winking prawn and the Crabshell Inn are all worth a visit. We enjoyed a cruise around the estuary and the boat trip from Dartmouth to Greenway

We have had a fantastic week here and it has been a perfect place for us to stay! We loved the walk down to Mill Bay and Sunny Cove, the coast path to Prawle point, the sea and the lovely river and coves around Salcombe too. Amazing weather has made this an even more memorable stay.

The location of this beautiful barn conversion is amazing and divine. We enjoyed many coastal walks with our dog around the area. Don't miss Mill Bay, it is just a 15 minute walk to this beautiful sandy beach that overlooks Salcombe. Sunny Cove is also a wonderful beach that is just to the left of Mill Bay. Salcombe is a beautiful town just across from Mill Bay and Sunny Cove. It is just a 3 minute trip on a pretty ferry across the estuary. This is a pretty barn conversion and my children love the step ladder.

A holiday of two halves - the first wet and very windy the second beautiful sunny weather. Perfect for exploring the coast walks and surrounding area. Such stunning scenery. The one constant element has been Apple Barn with its cosy and comfortable welcome. Thank you.

What a beautiful location and lovely barn to stay in. Gara beach was one of our favourite places. Don't miss Sunny Cove just to the left of Mill Bay beach as that is also very stunning and secluded. Fantastic dog walk from the top of Gara Rock right across the cliffs to Mill Bay beach also not to be missed with or without a dog. Will definitely visit again.

A wonderful 2 week family holiday with amazing weather. It is so peaceful here with great walks on your doorstep and some great places to eat. The Winking Prawn, Millbrook Inn, Pig's Nose, The Crab Shed and Brittania at Beesands to name but a few. Salcombe is lovely, also visited Dartmouth to do some wild swimming. Still wondering if Gara Rock will be open by 1st August. Salcombe and Rickham Sands are stunning and well worth the walk home.

What a great find - the children and dog have had a lovely week despite the slightly iffy weather. Highly recommend the Crabshell Inn in Kingsbridge for food (and great coffee). We will definitely be back.

Apple Barn is a very cosy and lovely place to stay. We wanted to drop off the world for a few days and this was perfect. Our two King Charles are very sad to go home as they loved Gara Rock and life in Devon. Thank you for a peaceful and restorative break. Would highly recommend the barn and location and we would love to return.

Perfect location for a relaxing break away. The brilliant walks all around meant our cocker spaniel got to enjoy a lead free stay. The boat across to Salcombe was a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Thanks for a lovely break.

We spent a lovely couple of days of Apple Barn. The coastal walk to the Pig's Nose was great and pub is worth a visit. A great choice of beer and a rather quirky atmosphere - maybe it was just the Halloween vibe! The ferry across to Salcombe runs continuously so you never wait long. The coastal walk on the Salcombe side was spectacular, particularly after a bacon sandwich at The Winking Prawn. The view from Dick and Wills was stunning (and its crab sandwiches were just perfect after the long walk). A great few days and the dog loved it as well.

Thank you for a delightful and relaxing stay at Apple Barn. The walk up to Gara Rock and around the headland to Mill Bay was perfect for little legs! The short boat trip to Salcombe was fun, as was the stroll through the town to Northsands and the fantastic Winking Prawn beach restaurant. Although a little too far to stroll for dinner, the Pig's nose is an experience not to be missed. Never have we been to such a peculiar establishment.

We have had a lovely few days at Apple Barn. It is very comfortable and well equipped.
Mandy the housekeeper was very helpful when we needed the heating switched on.
We have walked to Mill Bay and on to the ferry point, a short boat ride over to Salcombe where good food and plenty of interesting shops are to be found.
I think we will leave a bit fitter than we arrived!

We have had a lovely relaxing week. The weather has been disappointing but a lovely cottage to enjoy with everything you could possibly want! Some fabulous walks around and about. Super places to eat - if seafood is your thing do try The Oyster Shack! Many many thanks.

A lovely cottage with lovely views and great coastal walks as well as a lovely 15 minutes walk to the unspoilt nearby beach of Mill Bay from the house. The cottage is nicely furnished and very comfortable. It is a very peaceful place to stay, deep in the countryside, yet with the sea just a walk away and a lovely restaurant with sea views just around the corner. The lovely village of East Portlemouth and the ferry from there to Salcombe are both very accessible.
Mandy, the housekeeper was a delight and very helpful. We would recommend this cottage to anyone who wishes peace and quiet and a coastal holiday in an unspoilt place in a comfortable place.

Thank you for a wonderful week at lovely cosy Apple Barn. This cottage is a true retreat and it is lovely decorated and cared for. Mandy left us with a wonderful welcome pack and we felt very at home straight away in this peaceful place. We love the coastal path from Gara Rock to Mill Bay.

The track from here to Mill Bay is magical and we did it several times on a rainy day. A lovely trip via the coastal roads to Coleton Fishacre with teh ferry (lower one) from Dartmouth on a sunny day was wonderful. Coleton Fishacre is a wonderful place. The house is lovely and the garden, which is a lovely mixture of cultivated and wilder is beautiful.

What a peaceful place! No road noise and we could watch the view forever. A chilly but mainly dry and bright week - we have enjoyed walks down to Mill Bay and round the coast to Gara Rock and also over to Overbecks. Such lovely views everywhere. We enjoyed eating freshly caught fish in the shack at Beesands (take a warm jacket!) and its also a great place to buy fish to cook. Thank you.

Been seven years since we last stayed at Apple Barn, far too long. Forgotten what a good base it is to get to so many fab places. Has been such a relaxing week in a comfortable cottage with such splendid views. We won't be leaving it another seven years!

A lovely cottage, and a wonderful stay! We enjoyed walks to Gara Rock and a delicious lunch at ODE Restaurant. An enjoyable ferry ride to Salcombe and walks around Dartmouth, East Prawle (with a delicious meal at The Pigs Nose) and Kingsbridge was fabulous. Salcombe includes a nice walk to the beach and the ferry is three minutes. When you get there, a great restaurant is the Victoria Inn, which allows pooches! The house is in a lovely location and I just love getting into the gardens early in the morning and looking at the beautiful view and listening to the birds. Saskia, aged 10.

Super stay, love Apple Barn, even had good weather. Recommend Anchourstone at Dittisham; booking essential. Fabulous long walk to East Prawle but the pub there was too old school for us. Crabshed in Salcombe a must, as is the Salcombe ice cream. Thank you for a relaxing birthday break.

We've had an excellent stay in Apple Barn. It has been a good opportunity to leave the car and enjoy the coastal walks and the walk to get the ferry to Salcombe and enjoy the beaches. The food at Gara Rock restaurant was very good. Overall, highly recommended.

We've had a wonderful week here (like everyone else!), revisiting places we know and discovering new ones. The walks from Gara Rock are beautiful and we've all enjoyed the beaches at Mill Bay and East Portlemouth. We even managed to get Howard (the dog) on the ferry twice - quite an achievement as he is scared of water! Also had a lovely day out in Dartmouth and would highly recommend a visit to National Trust property Colerton Fishacre and then take the ferry from Dittisham (further up the estuary) to Agatha Christie's holiday home, Greenway, a real gem. We hope to come again - perhaps with some of the family.

We've had a wonderful, relaxing week at Apple Barn and, of course, been down to the sea. Walks to Gara Rock - Ode Cafe, wonderful coffee, coastal and inland walks ... Soar Mill Cove Hotel delightful. Salcombe a must by foot and ferry to collect provisions. Thank you Apple Barn, a comfortable stay, a lovely hamper and wonderful views down the valley.

We all loved this cottage; as soon as we arrived we felt welcome and happy, the food left and the cosy chairs and beds were lovely. I'm sure we agree that we will come back. For food, I'd suggest the Crabshell Inn and the Victorian Inn. For the last day of this great holiday we all decided on penguins as there is a great penguin walk! Go to Mill Bay for dogs!

What a wonderful week we had at Apple Barn. Perfect location for coastal walks and catching the ferry to Salcombe. The scenery all around is simply stunning. We enjoyed Millbrook Inn and Crabshell Inn for food, had a lovely day in the sunshine at North Sands and enjoyed Overbecks. The walk from Mill Bay round to Gara Rock for cream tea was amazing, even if a little scary in places! We will come back to Salcombe area for more holidays in future. Thank you Apple Barn, a delightful cottage, great welcome hamper and all very clean and comfortable.

Apple Barn was a complete success. Lovely walk from the barn to Mill Bay and Gara Roack. Good food at the Victoria Inn, Salcombe and the King William IV, Totnes. The ferry boat to Salcombe was good fun. The coastal path from Gara Rock to Mill Bay was excellent, with fantastic views. I would highly recommend it. Apple Barn was brilliant - we don't want to leave.

What a beautiful barn - a real home from home. Lots of great walks (helped by great weather). Gara Rock cafe is a delight and just a short walk away & Victoria Inn over in Salcombe is fantastic (in fact we ate there 3 nights!) We will definitely be back. P.s. Brilliant hamper!!

Very happy stay here at The Apple Barn. Brilliant location - beach just a few minutes walk away. Salcombe is an amazing place and very dog friendly. Great walks, great places to eat - we liked The Victoria Inn in Salcombe and Cafe Ode at Gara Rock. Will definitely be back. The house is probably one of the most well equipped places we've ever stayed. Our teenage girls appreciated the upstairs space. Nice to have a wood burner for the chillier evenings. Nice welcome hamper too!

Another lovely week at Apple Barn. Weather was mixed but still enjoyed the beach at Gara Rock and Mill Bay. Great food at Captain Flints in Salcombe and also Victoria Inn (very dog friendly). Saw the transatlantic duo row home to Salcombe - great atmosphere! Very sad to leave such a tranquil and lovely place, could easily do another week! Many thanks

A wonderful return to South Devon and the weather was so much better than forecast. We had a wonderful time and thought that the house was fabulous - so quiet, lovely views and get - by ferry - just a few minutes from the middle of Salcombe. We ate at the Millbrook and enjoyed the meal - though try and book. We walked along the beaches from Millbay and further afield recommend Totnes (King William for lunch), Dartmouth and Kingswear. Kingsbridge is fine for groceries and Brixham, whilst still a seaside resort, is in better shape than when I was last here. Cider, fudge & cream teas put the finishing touches on a very relaxing and enjoyable week. Shame we have to go back to Yorkshire!

2 weeks of sunshine! Excellent local meals at Gara Rock restaurant, worth booking for evenings. Anchorstone café, Dittisham - well worth the drive for top seafood 'alfresco' dining - booking essential. Then onto Greenway by boat (National Trust). BBQ breakfast, yummy. Wonderful cottage, great not to need to use the car to get to the beaches. Thank you. Summers family - Northants.

Everything about Apple Barn was perfect. We had a truly lovely week here. Highlights included the sun-set over Gara Rock while eating a good supper, idyllic lunch on a warm sunny day at Millbrook Inn at South Pool - Oh and a cream tea at Gara Rock - plus a well earned pint at the Pig's Nose. Good thing there are so many beautiful walks to work up an appetite! S&C Oxford.

A wonderful stay, in a wonderful property! We all loved the coastal walks and beaches. Had a great meal and take away from the "Shack" (Butania on the beach!). We can only echo what has been said before - a lovely barn in a lovely location. We enjoyed Mill Bay and catching the ferry to Salcombe. We can highly recommend "The Winking Prawn" at North Sands - an all-day beach café that does excellent sea food platters. Good food at Garra Rock (both lunch and evening meal), also walked to the Millbrook Inn at South Pool. Challenging walk to Prawle Point, had a drinks at the Pigs Nose, good for real ale. LR, Sheffiel

Seacombe Sands below Gara Rock was perfect and no driving involved. Bigbury on Sea was worth a visit with a great pub in Bigbury. We had a fab hol!! Thanks to everyone. M&C, Suffolk
