Long Meadow Barn was in a very pleasant rural location. Everything was ready for us, including a lovely food hamper with a home made lemon drizzle cake and a bottle of wine and there were fresh flowers on the lounge table. After a short settling in period, Tessa came round and welcomed us and asked if there was anything we needed. The barn was well equipped in terms of plenty of comfortable seating in the lounge, a well equipped kitchen/dinner, as we cooked all our meals here and three bathrooms upstairs, two en-suite, plus a toilet downstairs. Beds were very comfortable and arranged, along with a cot, stairgate and high chair as agreed beforehand with Tessa. Our grandson was really happy finding so many toys to play with and by closing the main gates to the property it was totally safe to play in the lovely grounds of the property without access to the road outside. We thoroughly enjoyed the benefits of the beautiful wood-burning stove in the lounge. There's a Tesco about 20 mins away where we arranged a click and collect for the food for our extended weekend. This is the best self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. Everything was spotless. There was loads of space. It is the most well equipped holiday home we have ever rented. The welcome hamper was amazing and included a home made cake, wine, bread, butter, biscuits, coffee, filter coffee, tea, eggs, milk, a basket of fruit and much more. There is an American fridge freezer, a range cooker, dishwasher and washing machine and enough crockery and cutlery to last the whole week without having to wash up. There is also pots pans, le cruet casserole dishes, Jamie Oliver crockery, every sort of dish you could want for cooking as well as all the implements to go with them. There were washing tablets and liquid and dishwasher tablets in the cupboard along with cleaning stuff, clothes, tea towels and toilet rolls. There was a selection of herbs and spices as well. There were fresh towels on every bed (sleeps 7 in all). Two of the bedrooms are en suite and there is a family bathroom, and also a toilet downstairs. All the bed linen and towels are excellent quality. When we rang the week before we went, the owner asked how old the children were and on arrival there were age appropriate toys and games both in the house and garden. As well as books. The log burner in the living room was laid all ready to use and there were baskets of logs and kindling in the grate. The garden is huge and completely enclosed so safe for the children to run around in. There was a choice of three BBQs, an outside sink and tap and games for the children. There is ample parking space. On the patio outside the french doors in the dining room is a large table and chairs. The owner lives in the house next door. She came to make sure we had everything we needed and was very friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend this holiday home enough. It is an excellent place for families.

If you want a truly rural retreat then this is the place to go. Quiet and unspoilt area. Plenty of places to visit in car. We went mountain biking at Haldon forest park. We visited the Warhorse museum and farm. Tessa (owner) arranged a local horse riding lesson for our granddaughter, at excellent stables nearby. Appeared with jodhpurs and riding boots to loan us. Tessa also left us lovely hamper with best lemon cake ever. Can’t really fault anything. Thankyou for lovely week.
