A beautiful location and spacious well equipped cottage. Coastal walking on your doorstep. Mortehoe village a ahort walk away - food shops have closed but upmarjet bistro opened. Pub days restricted at the moment, so check! Access is 1mile with very few parking places. We only had to reverse back once - mainly because other driver young but inexperienced at reversing on Devon lanes, unlike us!
Water did not drain properly from shower and basin in bathroom, this was reported, otherwise the property would have a better rating.
Good accommodation in a lovely place. It’s a bit remote but that was what we were looking for. Good base for walking to Woolacombe and Ilfracoombe along the South West coastal path which is extremely steep in places and has lots of steps but also plenty of benches to rest on
Utterly magical experience.
Immaculate property in a spectacular location. Perfect for walking the South coast path.
A beautiful cottage set in an amazing location. Would definitely recommend this cottage.
This was an amazing setting and the cottage was well appointed. Wish we had taken more advantage of the walks along the costal path. Unbelievably we were the only guests so this added to the experience and it meant we could drive with confidence along the road to the cottages as there were very few passing places! Absolutely perfect for us and would certainly return.
Amazing location. Beautiful, tastefully decorated cottage which was very clean and well-equipped.
Great location and cottage. Apart from two issues in the bathroom which we made the housekeeper aware of.
Amazingly quiet, with just the sound of the sea and great walks.
Accomodation was lovely, well equipped and the bed very comfortable.
Perfect in all respects. Marvellous position and view, spacious with high quality kitchen and bathroom equipment and fittings. Lovely dining room and separate sitting room. Internet a bit slow and sometimes intermittent probably reduces 5* review a smidge. Some anxiety from the narrow lane from the village as few passing places, but in practice over 6days we met no one driving in the opposite direction. Last but not least the standard of cleanliness and hamper on arrival were both brilliant. We will definitely return.
A wonderful holiday experience
What an idyllic position, right on the coast overlooking the rugged North Devon Coast. Perfect for exploring the beautiful coastal path. The cottage was well appointed, beautifully decorated and very clean. The welcome hamper kept on giving! A very happy get away.
Excellent. Quiet; spotlessly clean; comfortable. A delightful holiday cottage perched on the headland with views out to sea.
The house was in excellent condition and well prepared for guests. The basket of goodies was as usual most helpful, Just one small addition, as it is the sort of thing we forgot -oil for cooking. As foreigners and using public transport, Lisa's suggestion over the phone of the best place to buy provisions before we arrived at the lighthouse was most helpful
This was our second stay in Warden, and we hope to come again. The weather was stormy, and the sea spectacular. Inside the cottage we were warm and comfortable. The 'welcome pack' was excellent, and satisfied virtually all our needs for a three-night stay. The cottage was cleaned and prepared to a very high standard. Thank you!
Brilliant, as usual. Our fifth visit.
This is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting, but it does require a higher level of care to keep it a five-star retreat. Problems we encountered: Key safe incredibly difficult to open (we had to call the housekeeper who immediately responded); Bath mat not clean (did not report it); Shower not very clean, hot water impossible for me to turn off (my husband had to be ready to jump in after me to do it) and impossible to turn off hot water completely so it is permanently leaking water); boiler three times failed to produce hot water, showed a fault, and was reported to housekeeper who immediately responded (which meant we had to use the key safe 😟). Previous occupants of some of the three cottages have left two black bins and one recycling box completely full. Reported it, but no satisfactory response. Not the fault of the cottage, but we won’t rent anywhere with such a narrow long lane ever again.
Thank you for your feedback. Once we were notified of the boiler problems we are pleased that we were able to arrange for a plumber to attend straight away. Had we known about the shower and the bath mat we would, of course, have arranged for them to be sorted immediately too. The bins are collected weekly on a trade contract and I am sorry that we could not arrange for the other cottages guest's rubbish to be collected earlier. Warden is indeed down a narrow long lane which is bordered by National Trust land. It is the same for all our other lighthouses, where the proximity to the sea is such a big part of the experience, and the only exceptions are at Cromer and North Foreland.
