Furlongs holiday home details

Furlongs is a fabulous property with ample space for up to ten guests to experience a special holiday in this most unique location. Furnished and equipped to exacting standards, the cottage offers all that one would wish for on a luxury break. Located at the end of a quiet lane not far from the centre of Abbotsbury village, Furlongs sits proudly just a few steps below the iconic 14th century St Catherine's Chapel. From every window the views are spectacular across the surrounding beautiful Dorset landscape, and you can stroll out of the front door to enjoy the popular village with its tea rooms, local pubs and shops, or nearby Swannery, Tropical Gardens or famous Chesil Beach.

With a choice of sitting rooms, the property is perfect for getting all the family together, and there’s also plenty of space for relaxing away from all the main activity in a separate snug. The generous property has three double bedrooms with super-king beds and two twin bedrooms with zip and link beds. The bespoke well-equipped kitchen has a natural limestone tiled floor, twin ovens and an American style fridge freezer and leads to the large, light filled dining space with french doors out onto the terrace and garden. Attractions and nearby amenities

  • Furlongs is situated between the village of Abbotsbury and the impressive landmark of St Catherine’s Chapel. Abbotsbury has a number of attractions to visit, including a Swannery, where you can see mute swans on their nests and feed the cygnets. The Subtropical Gardens have won awards, there are lots of exotic and unusual flowers on display. The village also has a Children’s Farm where little ones can enjoy cuddling guinea pigs, pony riding, goat racing and burning off energy in the soft play pirate ship.
  • St Catherine's Chapel was built in the 14th century and sits in splendid isolation overlooking Chesil Beach. The walk up to the chapel is well worth it, with views stretching for miles. Look out for the ‘wishing holes’ in the chapel.
  • Chesil Beach is a famous part of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and only a short walk from the property.
  • The Jurassic Coast is an area rich in fossils. One of the best places to explore the history is Lyme Regis, where you can visit the museum, go on fossil walks or stroll up the iconic harbour wall, known locally as The Cobb.
  • Other must-see sights along this unique coastline include Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. Both of these fascinating and photogenic features have been carved out by the sea over millions of years.
  • The Hive Beach at Burton Bradstock and its café, serving fresh local seafood and home made cakes is also nearby.
  • Further west is the bustling market town of Bridport with its antique shops and restaurants and regular street markets.
  • The county town of Dorchester is only a 20 minute drive away with its large selection of shops, restaurants, cafes, museums and two cinemas.
