Surrounding Villages to the area:

  • Upper & Lower Slaughter: Straddling the banks of the River Eye, also known as Slaughter Brook, the two villages have remained utterly unchanged for more than a century with no building work taking place at all since 1906.
  • Broadway: Often referred to as the "Jewel of the Cotswolds" with many limestone buildings dating from the 16th century.
  • Chipping Campden: A small market town in the Cotswold notable for its elegant terraced high street dating from the 14th century.
  • Bourton-on-the-Water: Regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England, famous for its honey coloured stone architecture and idyllic village scenes.
  • Moreton-in-Marsh: A traditional cotswold market town with Tuesday as its market day attracting people from far and wide to visit the stalls of this well established market.
  • Oxford: Visit the bustling cosmopolitan 'City of Dreaming Spires', world famous for its University and place in history. Just short of an hour's drive from Lower Swell.

  • Bourton House & Gardens: An award-winning three acre garden surrounding a fine 18th century Manor House, beautiful to visit in any season.
  • Sezincote House & Gardens: The house is 1.5 miles from Moreton-in-marsh, the architecture of the estate can be described as a British re-interpretation of 'classic' georgian architecture in Mughal forms.
  • Birdland: Home to over 500 birds including Flamingos, pelicans, penguins, cranes and storks, enjoy a fun day out at Birdland Park & Gardens.
  • Cotswold Lavender Farm: Situated in the Cotswold Hills overlooking Broadway and the Vale of Evesham. Started growing Lavender in 2000, and now has 35 different varieties stretching over 53 acres. Gift shop and tearoom serving lavender scones.
  • Hidcote Manor: The finest gardens in the country are to be found just four miles outside Chipping Campden. Hidcote is owned by the National Trust.
  • Kifsgate Gardens: Situated next to Hidcote Manor and reputed to be one of its main rivals.

Historical Places to visit:

  • Blenheim Palace: Situated at Woodstock, the home of His Grace the Duke of Marlborough. This magnificent palace is open to the public and allows you to walk through some of its 200 acres of parklands and beautiful gardens.
  • Sudeley Castle: The castle rooms and exhibits contain many fascinating treasures, from ancient Roman times to the present day.
  • Warwick Castle: One Thousand Years of Secrets. The castle is set in 60 acres of grounds, plenty to see and do.
  • Kenilworth Castle: View the Norman keep and the Great Hall, and admire its beautiful reconstructed Tudor Gardens.
  • Stratford upon Avon: A market town with more than 800 years of history, world famous for its Shakespearean connections containing many buildings that survive today but would have been familiar to Shakespeare himself.
  • Chedworth Roman Villa. Chedworth Roman Villa has some of the most impressive in-situ Roman mosaics in the country, as well as bath-house rooms and hypocaust systems.

  • Cheltenham Food & Drink Festival From chef's kitchen's to food talks, entertainment and wine tastings, this event has your taste buds in a frenzy.
  • Royal International Air Tattoo, RAF Fairford. A special one off event including an incredible flying display from the World famous Red arrows.
  • Cheltenham Jazz Festival Includes the biggest names from jazz, blues and world music, plus local and emerging talent.
  • Cheltenham Gold Cup Week An unbelievable week for horse racing where the finest; horses, jockeys, trainers and owners battle it out for the highest racing honours.

  • Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park: Situated at Bemborough, near Guiting Power (on the Snowshill to Bourton on the Water road). Founded twenty years ago by a local farmer, the park is now a refuge for the many localised ancient breeds of farm stock. Good place to take children.
  • Ragley Hall: Set in 400 acres of parkland, contains Children’s Adventure Wood, 3D Maze, Stables, Carriage Collection, Woodland Walks and Lakeside picnic area.
  • Naunton Down's Golf Course: 18 hole, par 71 golf course, situated just outside Cheltenham.
  • Longborough Opera: Longborough Festival Opera is an intimate 500-seat theatre set amidst the glorious rolling hills of the Cotswolds.
  • Salford Trout Lakes:Two spring fed Lakes set in beautiful rural Cotswold Countryside. Stocked with Rainbow and Brown Trout
  • Dovers Hill: Owned by the National Trust, this has a superb view from which the Black Mountains in Wales can be seen on a clear day.
