This wonderful haven in the countryside has exceeded all our expectations and has been a tranquil/soul restoring stay. The location couldn’t be better and we loved cooking Easter dinner on the Aga. Your warm hospitality made us feel so welcome and I hope we can come back and stay longer next time. We truly do not want to leave this place. The attention to detail; the small (but important) touches made this the perfect long weekend. We return relaxed and ready to face the rat race again. Thank you for everything!

Our rural retreat really could have not been any more perfect. We needed time away, space and quiet; which we got in abundance. Caroline and Guy are the perfect hosts; warm welcome, thoughtful and attention to detail. The Granary really is home from home and we will most certainly be back! Thank you.

A wonderful escape from the rat race! The cottage is beautiful, obviously lovingly restored. Caroline and Guy could not have been more friendly and helpful. Loved the Aga – we are now great fans! The location is beyond perfect, it was impossible not to relax within hours of arriving. Many good walks on the door step and the Forest of Dean was amazing. Thank you!

What more can be said, that has not already been said? The Granary is a credit to all the hard work and thought you have put into making it a beautiful place to relax in. Three days was not long enough and we are already looking at dates next year to return. Thank you – we loved it.

An idyllic setting for winding down over a long weekend – Caroline and Guy have been superb hosts and their dog has made us feel completely at home!

A great place to get away to for a week. The cottage has everything you need and the owners are so friendly and helpful. If you like watching birds, fill the feeders every morning and you will see more different types than I have seen before in one place. If you fish then the lake is full of good quality fish, not big, but good condition. I will be coming back

Our stay in this wonderful place coincided with the acrimonious national debate on Brexit but the warm and loving hospitality, a beautiful cottage and nature at its most beautiful has given us treasured memories. Caroline and Guy’s dog (sorry forgot the name!!) acted as our unofficial guide as we did the walk through the woods. Do not take any notice of what she says as she will lead you to the muddiest paths, she is also useless at fishing so ignore her advice. She thinks all life’s problems can be solved by lying on your back and having your tummy tickled – seems a good plan – I think we will try it out!

It is often difficult to get both the location and the accommodation elements right at the same time, but The Granary manages that perfectly. We heard little owls every night, tawny owls once and, as city dwellers, it is a great pleasure to see swallows and hear skylarks, not to mention the woodpeckers, jays etc. We were afraid of the Aga at the beginning but we will miss making toast and crumpets on it. We appreciate the thoughtful hospitality and helpfulness – we enjoyed a truly memorable stay.

This is our fourth holiday at The Granary – why do we keep returning and hope to come again? Simple answer – it is perfection in everything and so relaxing – the sounds of the birds and nothing else! Caroline and Guy are wonderful and so kind and generous.

Everything about this place is perfect. Beautiful, spacious, comfy cottage with fantastic views. A very big thank you to Guy and Caroline who are very kind, friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome. Thank you for the lovely goodies in the hamper! A wildlife haven: Woodpeckers, Ravens, Jays, Nuthatches, Owls, Wrens, Robins and Buzzard and more… Amazing place – we will be back next year

A REALLY RURAL Retreat – much appreciated by us country born folk. Such spacious accommodation for two. Lovely to have an AGA in a proper farmhouse kitchen. We spent more time in there than in the lounge. The carpet of bluebells, wild daffodils and wood anemones in the wood was an amazing sight – on a par with the view from Symonds Yat Rock. We are going home with some special memories. Thank you, Caroline and Guy for making us so welcome.

Firstly, thank you for a warm welcome, along with the beautiful flowers dotted around the cottage, especially the flowers with the Easter eggs on! Makes such a difference and much appreciated. Also the lovely food hamper. We have very much enjoyed our stay here in your stunning and cosy cottage. Home from home. The views are amazing, we both feel so relaxed, thank you

Thank you for the best welcome we have ever received. The hamper and extra goodies were a wonderful touch and that cheese was delicious! Thank you for helping with our bags too.
We felt so welcome and relaxed straight away and it felt like we lived here. The views were worth getting up early for and it was so lovely and cosy in the evenings. Saw woodpeckers, a baby fawn and horses. It is such a beautiful cottage I have already recommended it to a few people!

Firstly, a huge thank you to the owners for making us feel so welcome. This was our first Christmas escape, and The Granary was the perfect setting. A wonderfully peaceful and cosy cottage, set in the most beautiful countryside. As far as walks go, we were spoilt for choice – May Hill was well worth a visit. The Aga of course deserves a mention – despite initial trepidation, Christmas dinner turned out ok and we’re sad to be saying goodbye. Hopefully we will return in 2016!

Absolutely beautiful and just the tonic we needed. The Granary is a credit to the owners who gave us a lovely warm welcome. Although we had the peace of mind that the owners were happy to help at anytime, we were left to our own devices and felt like the cottage was our own! The cottage is very warm, comfortable and very nicely decorated and maintained. Our stay has been perfect and we will definitely be coming back. We were first time Aga users and loved it, hence only 2 meals out! Our sleep quality was great, waking only to the subtle sound of the birds outside (which we fed and loved to watch). It was lovely to see the woodpecker visiting and the deer in the field. A huge thank you and hope to see you soon”

This was our first visit to The Granary and hopefully it will not be our last. We tried two of the restaurants recommended, both very good. We came with our dog, Yana, and found some fantastic walks in the Forest of Dean. The Granary is one of the most relaxing places we have stayed in and is well equipped. We will be returning, thank you to the owners.

We liked everything about The Granary, including the Aga, the surrounding views, birds, deer and the owners! George (the dog) loved to be outside in the garden and we even got to have breakfast and coffee on the patio, despite the changeable weather. Lovely walk around local woods and paths. Ledbury is a lovely town which we are visiting again on our (reluctant) way home. Thank you.

The cottage is even better in reality than in the photos, such a lovely space to relax, with everything nicely laid out. I would say that we slept like logs in the comfortable bed! Love the Aga, kept us warm as the weather was so terrible, but no matter that’s the chance you take in November and it has been a wonderful stay.

Our first “Rural Retreat” holiday and we doubt anywhere else could match our fantastic stay at The Granary. What a lovely cottage!! Very warm, comfortable and roomy and an Aga as well. We really enjoyed cooking some great meals AND it makes the best toast ever. We were made to feel so welcome by our hosts and really enjoyed visiting so many of the local towns and walks. We will definitely be back as there is a lot left still to do. Thank you so much to the owners for a really great break.

A wonderful find! The window in the lounge was perfect for watching the deer at sundown. As for the Aga – it’s been fantastic – we are leaving with much oven envy. We’ve had a super week and will definitely be recommending The Granary, thank you Guy and Caroline.

With many thanks to Caroline and Guy for their warm welcome to The Granary. The Granary is a charming holiday cottage which is exceptionally well appointed and is set in its own very attractive garden. All set in beautiful surroundings – just right to relax and enjoy. The hamper, fruit and chilled items were also very much appreciated.

The Granary has been superb – a little gem! Caroline and Guy are great hosts. We have been on so many walks and our 2 Yorkies have never been so chilled – or so tired. We would recommend this place to the most difficult to please because it definitely would. Looking forward to our next trip here.

Thank you very much for a lovely stay. The Granary is delightful, beautifully done, especially with little touches! The garden was very safe for Trillie and we had a good rest. It was nice meeting you both and we shall enjoy our duvet! Thanks again.

Have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beautiful “Granary”. The upstairs is fantastic, the bed so comfortable and the shower to die for. It felt great to have the lounge upstairs. We LOVED the Aga and used it for everything! Cooking, drying washing and just feeling warm! Our dogs loved the big windows to look out of; kept them amused for hours. A superb stay, great roads for cycling and countryside for walking.

Well, what else can we add. As with all the previous visitors we have loved being in The Granary. Two add two cherries on top of this delicious cake, we also saw the partial eclipse of the sun and had two visits to the River Severn to watch “the bore”. Great Place, Great Owners… and a Great Time!”

Lovely time and wonderful surroundings. Thank you so much for the incredibly tasty flapjacks and our other welcome goodies. Loved going for walks in the Forest of Dean and to the top of May Hill and exploring the local area. Two fantastic meals at the Kilcot Inn and The Roadmakers! Thank you again and we hope to return.

Exactly what we wanted for an early Winter break – beautiful, peaceful location with great walks and access to places of interest (including Cheltenham and the racecourse). One of our favourite RRs (we’re getting to be old timers with over 20 years experience!). Thanks for the hint to drift over to Hay on Wye for a walk and ramble around the town – great 6 mile walk around Bredwardine with beautiful views over the Black Mountains from Arthur’s Stone. This is a lovely cosy cottage for relaxing and chilling out. Thank you Caroline and Guy for your hospitality and care and attention. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. MB, Lancashire

It has always been our maxim to stay in places that are at least as comfortable as our home. Over the years we have stayed in some wonderful cottages and some wonderful locations. At The Granary, for the first time, we have found both. Well done Caroline and Guy for creating a little piece of heaven on earth. You even arranged for the rain to come overnight leaving us with two full dry, sunny walking days. We can only echo the comments gone before and say that we hope to return for a longer stay next time. CT, Wrexham

We have stayed in a number of Rural Retreats cottages and this one tops them all in pretty much every aspect! The space we have, the setting, the views, walks and facilities are all first class. We’ve had a great week walking the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, as well as bird and animal-spotting with the binoculars. Thanks, too, for making us feel so welcome! AR, Leicester

We needn’t have worried about arriving in the pouring rain on a chilly evening to start our summer holiday as the warmest of welcomes from the owners and stepping into the beautiful Aga warmed kitchen immediately lifted our spirits. Then to find everything we needed for an evening meal, breakfast and more provided for us – we just couldn’t believe it!

We meant to do so much getting out and about whilst here, however dragging oneself away from The Granary is very difficult to do. It has been the perfect place to catch up on sleep, re-charge our batteries and appreciate the beautiful English countryside in 5* luxury with an abundance of dog walks on the door step. Thank you for a wonderful week and when can we move in permanently?” RN, Somerset

This has been a perfect location for our two dogs and for us to celebrate our anniversary. The Welcome pack with home-made muffins was wonderful, but to receive another supply of muffins later in the week was a much welcomed surprise. The beautiful flowers in each room was very thoughtful. This is a stunning location to which we would like to return. We can recommend the walk across fields to Cliffords Mesne, stopping at the Yew Tree for lunch, before walking up May Hill. 360 degree views, The River Severn, The Malverns,The Black Mountains and The Bristol Channel - simply stunning. An absolutely perfect place for a relaxing break. All the comforts provided at “The Granary” are far and above those of other properties that we have visited. The extra little touches makes you feel truly special. The wildlife is in abundance, a real treat to see an owl just outside the window. I don’t think I have slept better anywhere; to wake up at 9 (normally 5.50am) has been an absolute dream. To top everything the weather has been fabulous, perfect for the lovely long walks. PS For those seeking to fish, there is an abundance of Tench, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Bream and even the odd Bleak! AP, Peterborough

Our second stay at The Granary and just as relaxing and enjoyable as our first visit in July. Caroline and Guy are lovely and make the most fantastic hosts, we especially enjoyed being invited to the New Year's Day bonfire party in one of the barns, a great evening! We feel very lucky to have been Guy and Caroline's first Christmas guests at The Granary. In particular, the Aga made it very easy to prepare Christmas lunch. We went for some nice walks in the Forest of Dean, which is a mere 30 minute drive away. It is so quiet and peaceful here, just what we needed... B & S, London

Where to start? Firstly with the warm welcome from Caroline and Guy and the various "goodies" left in the kitchen. Secondly for all the comforts provided in "The Granary", a real gem of a find in such beautiful countryside. We had had a stressful period before arriving and this peaceful environment was the tonic we needed. Also loved the fact that we could take Archie, our dear old labrador, for a walk without even getting in the car or putting him on a lead!" LB, Honeybourne, Worcestershire

Our first visit to this part of England and what a find in 'The Granary'. We are the first guests for Guy and Caroline and they have been great hosts. Wonderfully relaxing. Peace and quiet in abundance. We are the first with a dog and she loved it. Frightened of the Aga at first (me not the dog) but got the hang of it and found it really good to use. We would love to return and wish Guy and Caroline well with The Granary. G&T, Hertford

Thank you for a very comfortable stay in a beautiful spot. The Granary is an ideal bolt-hold for two with a dog. We thought the Birds of Prey Centre was fantastic - the demonstration flights so impressive, and lunch at Three Choirs, though expensive was worth it. Thank you again for making us so welcome, we were well and truly spoiled by The Granary and its locality. P & S S
