The Bend Retreat holiday home details

Professional photography coming soon!

The Bend Retreat is a large and luxurious Victorian-period house with plenty of style and facilities for large groups to relax. In one direction is the New Forest; in the other, glorious sandy beaches.

Whether you’re coming away as a family gathering or as a group of friends, The Bend Retreat has plenty of space for you all to relax and enjoy your time together. The property combines Victorian elegance with contemporary luxury and comfort. At the heart of the house is a spacious and sunny sitting room that runs the full depth of the house. Doors here lead straight out onto the large, private garden, where you’ll find lots of tasteful garden furniture and plenty of sun traps to enjoy a drink or meal out of doors.

You’ll find doors leading to the garden in the well-equipped kitchen and the games room too. The latter is perfect for the little ones, with a small television and DVD player, plenty of DVDs to choose from as well as games and a table tennis table. All in all there are six large bedrooms, five of which have beds that can be converted into twin beds should you wish.

The property is situated in the quiet, pretty hamlet of Neacroft, right on the edge of the New Forest. In the other direction, just three miles away you’ll find fabulous sandy beaches and coastal walks. As well as all the tourist hot spots of the New Forest, there are plenty of excellent village pubs and restaurants nearby.

Attractions and nearby amenities

  • The town of Christchurch is full of coastal charm, with award-winning beaches, a pretty harbour and nature reserves. There are plenty of independent shops to browse through, as well as cafes and restaurants to choose from. The Priory Church is well worth a visit on a day out, with its beautiful location, where the Rivers Avon and Stour meet before flowing into the harbour.
  • One other highlight in Christchurch is the Red House Museum and Gardens, where you can learn about everything from Saxon princes to Victorian workhouses.
  • The New Forest is a natural adventure playground, with lots of walkways, cycle paths and delightful views to enjoy. The town of Lyndhurst is known as the capital of the New Forest and you’ll find the New Forest Heritage Centre here, where you can gain a unique insight into the area’s history. If you’re here in July, the New Forest Show is a showcase for everything from local produce to farm machinery.
  • The small village of Beaulieu in Hampshire is home to a number of big tourist attractions. The Beaulieu Motor Museum houses over 250 historic vehicles, while Palace House gives you an insight into life in the New Forest in Victorian times. Beaulieu Abbey is worth a visit too.
  • The shipbuilding village of Buckler’s Hard in the New Forest is an immersive experience, with everything from cottages showing you what it was like to live here in its heyday through to living history displays.
  • To defend the English coast, Henry VIII built a series of artillery forts and you can visit one during your stay at The Bend Retreat. Hurst Castle is an evocative and impressive building that stretches along a spit of land at the entrance to the Solent.
  • If the little ones have still got some energy to burn off after all that, take them to Moors Valley Country Park. They can take a ride on a narrow-gauge steam railway or, if they’re feeling more energetic, swing through the trees at Go Ape.
