A truly lovely, spacious and well equipped cottage in an idyllic setting.
Beautiful property, really comfortable and ideally located to explore Norfolk. It has everything you need for staying away. The kitchen is really well equipped and there are nice handy items like beach towels. Would definitely stay there again. As always rural retreats properties are always the best I have stayed in.
This is the eighth time of staying at Beech End. Which I think probably says it all. A truly lovely relaxing cottage in a peaceful village. The housekeeper Tanya does a wonderful job, the house is spotless, can't do enough for you
Have stayed before.Very comfortable and a plentiful supply of logs. Plenty of wine glasses but no small glasses and a lack of large bowls in the kitchen for fruit and bread.
Thank you for your review, we are delighted that you found Beech End very comfortable. The owner has let us know that there are smaller/water glasses (2 types) in the cupboard with the mugs and cups in the kitchen. There are 2 different types of bowls in the crockery cupboard: cereal bowls, soup bowls that match the dinner service and pasta bowls.
We thought the cottage was great. Warm, plenty of hot water, spacious, lovely garden - had all that we needed. Things to consider adding - doormat for entrance, recycling bins, EV charging capability.
Another lovely weekend break at the cottage.
A very well equipped cottage with everything you could want in the kitchen . A very good selection of books in the library and absolutely loved playing the piano! Very dog friendly with a well appreciated surprise of dog toys, poop bags and bowls. A lovely welcome pack which would have kept the pair of us going for a couple of days if we didn’t want to immediately get to the supermarket. Housekeeper was very helpful and neighbours friendly. I don’t think this cottage would suit anyone with a balance or reduced mobility issue as there is a step into the living room and upstairs, there is a deep step down and up again on the upstairs landing without any handrails between the first bedroom and both bathrooms. Tesco supermarket within easy driving distance and discovered a terrific county park at Holt where we ran our dog many times. Absolutely loved the peace and quiet of the location and the small green area within a few paces from the cottage is also worth a look.
Our second stay in this fab cottage. Lovely peaceful location and everything you could need for a great stay is provided.
"Rural Retreats" sums it up - it was perfect in every way. Lovely cottage in an idyllic location but close enough to all the must see sights of North Norfolk. Both inside and outside of the cottage were immaculate and wanted for nothing. Excellent garden for two Labrador dogs with plenty of nice walks from the cottage.
Everything was perfect. We took our 1 year old and the high chair, travel cot and stair gate were all fine. Great location for exploring North Norfolk coast and NT properties.
We were so pleased with our cottage at Beech End, Norfolk. It was spotlessly clean, we had a very generous welcome pack, and it was well kitted out with everything you could possibly want for a wonderful holiday.
Well appointed and spacious cottage with quality furnishings and very comfortable bed. There were two of us in a cottage for four people. The kitchen would have been rather small to accommodate four people cooking together. Lovely garden to cottage which marketing photo didn’t do justice to at all. Photos on internet did not reflect the fact that brand new curtains and blinds had been fitted in the cottage. New updated photos required. Very pretty and quiet location. Fabulous deli|\farm shop in nearby in village of Letheringset. An area with lots to see and do. We didn’t feel the welcome pack was of the usual Rural Retreats standard with poor quality bread and cheap tea bags. Minor point though.
Excellent high quality cottage
All aspects extremely good
Have been to Beech End seven times now, so I think that says it all. An excellent cottage, peaceful rural location. Very clean, tidy and well equipped
The cottage is gorgeous and homely, very cosy and the garden is pretty, sunny and secure, perfect for the children and the dog. Piano was a lovely surprise. The location was very quiet and rural. A 15 min drive into Holt for food and shops and 30 mins to the lovely beaches. Good cycling/walking for families at Holkham, about 30-40 mins drive away We had a wonderful few days and would definitely return. Thank you for a great break away from the city! A few small suggestions below would make it even more wonderful. Welcome hamper was very much appreciated but would have been lovely to have local produce rather than generic brands. Also, some sugar would have been good. Bathroom with roll top bath is lovely and the bath is very comfortable and water lovely and hot. But the window really needs a net curtain or obscured glass……not really practical to constantly roll down the blackout blinds during the day every time you/kids need the loo. The double bed in the second bedroom is a bit too small for two ‘almost’ teenagers (boy and girl) to share. It was just about ok, but perhaps it would be an idea to have twin beds in one of the rooms if wanting to attract families. It might be a good idea to turn on central heating a while before guests arrive. Despite the heating being on when we arrived, the first evening was freezing as the cottage hadn’t yet heated up. However, it was lovely and warm after that. Instructions for log burners would be helpful.
Thank you for your feedback for Beech End. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and as you so rightly say the property is glorious and sits in a very special cottage garden. All the living area soft furnishings and most of the curtains have been recently replaced. Just prior to your visit the carpets and blinds were renewed and the cottage decorated throughout. There is a blind in the main bathroom however the owner has deliberately not put frosted glass in as the sun blazes into the bathroom in the mornings and it is stunning. There is a shower room with toilet that does have frosted glass. The cottage warms up quickly and the heating can be put on constant when guests arrive if they wish. The woodburners can easily be lit and the instructions are in the folder. We find that Beech End attracts couples and families alike and, as we say on the webpage, there is a 5' king-size zip and link bed that can be made into twin 2'6 singles on request.
It was just the perfect retreat for relaxing. Brilliant. Thank you so much for making our weekend so special.
A beautifully maintained double cottage in a peaceful rural location (except for the brief tractor rush each morning and evening!). It was convenient for coastal areas and for inland attractions. Eating in the garden on a sunny morning or evening, with only birdsong in the background, was a real highlight.
This is the fourth time of staying at Beech End, a really comfortable cottage, everything you could wish for, great hamper. A lovely and relaxing holiday despite everything that's going on in the country. Thank goodness you were able to re-open, everything made safe
Great accommodation, the owner has thought of everything.
