A call prior to our arrival from June helped with are check-in. A well equipped unit and the log burner/oven too keep you warm was great. Good walk for the dogs and an excellen bakery on your doorstep don't miss. Local pub 25 mins walk away. A well recommended short break I look forward to doing again

Another wonderful stay courtesy of Lantern and Larks. Glamping at its best. Plenty to do in the surrounding areas, if you choose to leave the campfire. Only slight downside is that you can hear the A1 during the day in the distance.

Absolutely beautiful place. We had the most amazing time at Oakham. The site was idyllic, well looked after and close to all local attractions. June greeted us with a very warm welcome and nothing was too much bother.
Whilst there is no mobile reception we really didn't care and it was lovely to get back to basics with the kids. Instead of wifi and apps we played hide and seek in the dark, had water fights, wheelbarrow races, did an astronomy lesson with the kids at night, put on a talent show, had a weirdest stories competition, bbqs and lots and lots of fun. Will be retuning again soon.
The tents are very spacious and well stocked with pretty much everything you need. Absolutely gorgeous. We had the tent overlooking the lake which is fenced off very well so that curious 9 and 10 year olds can't get in. Stunning views. I really can't recommend this place enough.

We have just returned from our week staying in 'Teal' one of four lodges at Exton Park. 'We' are myself, husband and two teenage daughters, who despite the lack of tv, laptop, ipad, etc. also managed to enjoy themselves immensly. Prior to arrival we were contacted by the site manager, June, to check our ETA and we were then warmly welcomed by her on arrival and shown to our 'tent'. I would like to say at this point that I have stayed in less well equiped and comfortable holiday cottages! The 'tent' was beautifully furnished and the beds made up with crisp clean linen, warm duvets and extra blankets. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with every gadget, pot and pan you could possibly need and the two cool boxes, kept cold with frozen hot water bottles, did a surprisingly good job! There was a two ring gas hob to compliment the wood burning stove, which I have to admit, whilst doing a great job at keeping the evening chill at bay, took a long time to reach a good cooking temperature. With the gas hob and the hire of the fire pit however, we did not rely on the woodburner for our meals, although our 'neighbours' cooked very good baked potatoes! The 'tents' also come complete with a wooden structure attached to the rear of the tent housing a toilet and sink and shower and sink. Both were immaculately clean, and the water hot and the pressure good! The front deck (partly covered by a 'porch') gave us a lovely place to sit with an early morning cuppa, or evening glass of wine. There was plenty of space between the four 'tents' and grassed areas had been mown for ball games, wheelbarrow races, kite flying etc. The small honesty shop stocked essentials, but there were lots of shopping opportunities in the beautiful small towns and villages surrounding Exton and of course you must visit Rutland Water. This is a really super little site, peaceful, well kept, with an attentive Manager and a wonderful 'escape'. Top tips: take plenty of long matches, a couple of torches (for nightime loo visits!), wellies (lots of grass paths) and plenty of good books and family games.

A great weekend with the whole family taking the two completed units to celebrate our oldest daughters 40th birthday. Superb location with everything for children and dogs. Nearby Rutland Water and Oakham Shops were a bonus but the facilities on site were very good. A very nice touch was the trimming up of the tents with party balloons and banners by the staff who were more than helpful.

Our family of four plus dog spent a relaxing and idyllic weekend in one of the brand new glamping tents. We were lucky enough to be the only people on the site so this made it extra special. For those of you who do not like camping (me included) let me reassure you that Lanterns and Larks is not camping as you might think. Luxury large canvas covered wooded structures on a wooden base with decking; bedrooms fully equipped with beds, duvets and blankets plus wardrobes; wood burning aga style stove, lovely sofa, chairs and furniture and all the equipment you would find in a holiday cottage. The inclusion of a great shower and toilet made this experience so very different to a traditional camping holiday. It was so peaceful, our 3 year old boy and 4 year old girl did not even miss having a TV, infact it was quite an adventure for them especially at night with the tent being lit by candlelight. They were so excited by the sights and sounds of nature all around them that they really did not want to go home. The addition of bunk beds in one of the bedrooms was an added bonus for them. There were a few teething problems but these did not impact on our enjoyment. The site manager was very helpful and assured us that the problems would all be rectified and I am absolutely sure they will be. There is a lovely bakery up the road called Hambleton Bakery, but get there early to ensure you get the nicest bread and cakes. The honesty shop is great for those bits you may have forgotten and there are also toys and books to borrow. The site is only 5 minutes drive from Rutland Water so a brilliant location for family holidays. We will definitely return!
