This is our second stay at the Blacksmiths Cottage and was just as fantastic as the first stay except we had better weather this time. Lovely welcome and amazingly clean and comfortable cottage. For a meal out we would recommend The Stagg at Titley and The Lion at Leintwardine. Thank you for a lovely stay. SW, Cumbria

After a long journey and getting a little lost late into the evening, lovely scones and jam with wine went down a real treat. What a great cottage, the best of RR's cottages we've stayed in for comfort. A wonderful location, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. JH, Hampshire

What a relaxing place to stay, we took a chance by booking early in the season and have been rewarded by two days of cloudless sky. The cottage and its surroundings are an idyllic place to stay. We hope to return for a longer break and discover more of this lovely area. CH, Surrey

A really beautiful cottage, in a beautiful place - despite the storms/rain we would love to come back. We enjoyed a visit to Ludlow, Sunday lunch at The Lion and the sunshine meant a great walk to Knighton on Offa's Dykes's path. Its really steep, but well worth the view at the top. Thanks for being welcoming, we wish we could have stayed longer. C&W, Oxford

A fantastic stay in a really special cottage. The hosts could not have been more welcoming. We did a good walk to Brampton Bryan through the woods and park. Recommend calling into Aardvark Books just for the experience. Also highly recommend fish and chips in Leintwardine (next to the Sun Inn) and then eating them next door in the pub. A good weeks holiday, with great weather and in a beautiful cottage. Perfect peace and quiet, just the sound of the sheep and red kites hunting. Enjoyed three good, long days cycling, though you need to tread the contour lines of the OS map, carefully to avoid the worst of the hills. ND, London

The cottage and its locality is like a little piece of heaven. Lucky to haven chosen Friday for our day at the Malvern show - weather good. Enjoyed our few days here and hope to come again. Thanks to the owner its not easy keeping such a high standard but much appreciated. P&M, Derbyshire

hank you to the owners, we had had a most enjoyable stay in your cottage. The setting is idyllic and Blacksmiths Cottage is very comfortable and well prepared. The weather has been beautiful, we have enjoyed visits to Croft Castle, Berrington Hall and Stokesay Castle, toured the Black and White trail and visited the lovely beer garden at the pub in Lingen. SL, Buckinghamshire

A last minute 3 night break, just wish we were staying longer. Beautiful, cosy cottage in a stunning location. Had a great, very snowy walk up to Harley's Hill in deep snow on our first afternoon. Another snowy walk through the woods to Aardvark books/café and back. Excellent meal at The Stagg at Titley. Despite the very cold weather the cottage was lovely and warm - we didn't even get to light the woodburner. Thanks again. MH, South Wales
1 April 2013
The welcome we received when we reached the cottage was wonderful. Thank you for letting us call it home for a week. It really couldn't have been warmer, cosier or luxurious. We have been using Rural Retreats for twenty one years now and this has to be the best. Everything is just perfect, what an eye for detail you have. Thank you so much. PS, Cambridge

We have really enjoyed our stay, great walking country and plenty to see and do locally. We have previously stayed at another 30 Rural Retreats and this is amongst the very best, unique however in having freshly laid eggs delivered to our door each morning. For lovers of quirky pubs go to the Sun Inn at Leintwarding, order your fish and chips from the shop next door and enjoy eating them delivered to you at the pub. RB, Wolverhampton

We've really enjoyed our stay here - so beautiful and peaceful. The cottage had everything we could possibly want and the weather was kind to us despite the forecasts. We made it up to Offa's Dyke from both the Knighton and Chun ends. The Spaceguard centre (2 miles towards Knighton) is well worth a visit, we had an individual tour that lasted an hour and a half. We have developed a real this for this area and are already contemplating our return, soon. JS, Buckinghamshire

Thank you so much for providing such a lovely place in which we were able to share the beauty of its wonderful surroundings. Probably the coldest week of the winter, but we have been snug and warm here in Blacksmiths Cottage. There may not be a forge here, but the log burner makes it lovely and warm. One of the nicest - if not the best Rural Retreats we've stayed in. Beautifully presented in a lovely area. The garden is a delight and would be perfect in warmer weather. Must be visited places - Ludlow, Aardvark Bookery, Discovery centre at Craven Arms. Many thanks for giving us the chance to enjoy this cottage - we hope to come again. CD, Buckinghamshire
