Great cottage, characterful
Cosy and charming cottage, well prepared for us by the housekeeper. Sitting room comfy and kitchen, though small, well equipped. However the bed and bath a bit on the small side for us.
A lovely quirky place to stay in a quiet friendly village. Although small, so much thought was put into cramming as much as possible into the home without it appearing cramped. The only negatives would be that the windows need attention so that ventilation to the rooms can be obtained, also the parking is a nightmare as the locals concurred.
Lovely quaint cottage in lovely location. We enjoyed all the features of the cottage, and appreciated being able to cook as well. Village was great - useful shop and the pub was friendly (the one at the far end which served food). A few too many statues though - reminded us of the stone angels in Dr Who. Would recommend for a couple looking for a romantic getaway - not for those with mobility issues though.
The Toll House was absolutely charming. It was very well-equipped for such a cozy space and the bed was so comfy.
Lovely, comfortable and clean accommodation. Equipped with everything you need. Thoroughly recommend.
Beautifully quaint property, well maintained and with everything you could need during your stay (most comfortable bed we've ever slept in!) Good central location to see points of interest in all directions. Would happily recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the Toll House. It's a little gem of a building ideally situated in the old centre of Nether Stowey, a charming village with a long history. Its small size was no problem for us. It is comfortable and well equipped and close to the local shop, butchers and pub, not to mention the amazing old bric-a-brac shop across the road. When we arrived we found the place well kept and a very nice hamper provided. Nether Stowey is well placed for access to the sea, the Quantock Hills and towns like Bridgwater and Minehead.
Really lovely accommodation - small but perfectly formed! Comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen, much appreciated hamper and wine. The village boasts 2 shops and 2 pubs and a library with helpful walking maps and information. Parking is on the street but this isn't a problem. If you are tall don't forget to mind your head in lots of places in the Toll House.
Excellently appointed and beautifully furnished. The little kitchen had everything we could possibly need. There's a good butcher and extensive store along the street.
A piece of history furnished in style. Everything good except the size of kitchen and lack of parking. We visited during a very wet week during Covid so we’re unable to enjoy local pubs etc and still managed a great stay.
Excellent and very well furnished property in a great location. The only thing which requires attention is the cold water supply to the basin in the bathroom which is unbelievably noisy. Although there is no internet access at the property, the George just up the road was a perfect substitute!
Very attractive cottage with lots of antiques. Very historic and very warm and comfortable! Thoroughly recommend!
We are very experienced cottage-users and know exactly what we're looking for. The Toll House had absolutely everything we like - log fire, tasteful, well-thought out decor to match the period, quirky exterior and interior, historic interest, a bath as well as a shower, a bed not pushed against a wall. Plus excellent, interesting location and lovely, high quality Christmas decorations (we filled the stockings for each other!) CD player (hooray!) and enough fuel for the week. We have NO complaints, only three suggestions: 1.There was nothing to wash up with, eg a scourer or brush. 2. We would have loved a file showing the history of the house. The owner presumably has access to the deeds - we longed to know who lived there over the centuries! There was an intriguing comment in the visitors' book saying it used to be a doctor's surgery. 3. While we appreciate the hamper, we always wish, when booking, that there was a choice of either having this or the equivalent money off the price - particularly as this one was lavish, including champagne! We had to shop anyway, for vegetables and other items, so if given the choice we would prefer no hamper and a lower cost. We had a superb week and had no desire to leave.
Great bolt hole in a great location. Fantastic walks in the countryside followed by warming up by the logburner.
Fantastic romantic cottage.
Had a very relaxing stay in this cosy Toll House. Great location for walking in the Quantocks. Thoroughly recommend The Hood in Kilve for a meal.
I loved this little house. It was so nice and quiet and the village was extremely friendly.
Lovely house enjoyed the stay. Perhaps some warning that tall people need to take care
