Friston is a lovely sleepy village and Briar Cottage a perfect place to stay. The little touches (milk, wine, flowers and dog biscuits) help make it home from home. Suffolk has so many wonderful places to visit as everyone has said and this is an ideal base.

Lovely, cosy cottage. Beautifully decorated & furnished and so well equipped.
A perfect home from home. We were blessed with glorious weather and made the most the wonderful Suffolk coast and nearby attractions - Aldeburgh, Orford, Dunwich, Southwold to name but a few. So much to see and do from this ideal base.

We had a wonderful stay at Briar Cottages and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
The cottage itself offers a very comfortable stay with high end fittings and finishes. Every detail has been carefully considered and thought of.
It was a very relaxing cottage to return to after enjoyable days spent exploring the picturesque Villages that Suffolk has to offer.
Oh and lets not forget the pooch, who thoroughly enjoyed the cottages fully enclosed garden. Holiday cottages with truly fully enclosed Gardens as apposed to hedges are somewhat hard to find.
The village of Friston is quiet with walks right on the door step and the local pub is only a two minute walk away offering great food and it is very dog friendly.
We were sorry to have to leave.

A fabulous stay in a lovely cottage in a rural setting very close to Aldeburgh. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at lovely Briar Cottage for a week in August. The cottage is very tastefully furnished and immaculately kept with comfy beds and quality bedlinen and towels etc. The owner left flowers and a bottle of wine as a welcome which was much appreciated.
The cottage has great Wifi and everything you could need for a short stay. The garden is small and very pretty and planted with low maintenance coastal style planting really setting the scene for a coastal/rural retreat. Our little dog was very happy wondering around in safety and lying in the shade.
The weather was very warm during our stay and we were spoilt with things to do and places to see all within 30 minutes of the property. The area is truly beautiful. We hired canoes, visited numerous beaches, went crabbing at Warberswick, wondered around the wonderful independent shops and cafes at Aldeburgh and Southwold, enjoyed the penny arcades and afternoon tea on Southwold Pier, enjoyed many lovely pub meals and visited the Suffolk Punch Trust en route home. A very memorable holiday and would happily return.

Briar Cottage is a gem. We self cater a lot and Briar is one of the best places to stay. Recommend the Summer Theatre (The season ends soon). The lovely cinema, Aldeburgh Cafe, Helmingham Hall Gardens and the Sanpe Maltings River trip.
Thank you H for making a real "Home from Home" with the excellent furnishings, equipment and all the extra touches. Love the bathroom tiles.

This was our first holiday with our young dog and we chose the cottage with her in mind. This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in . Eating breakfast each day in the garden, walking the dog friendly beaches of Aldeburgh towards Thorpeness, Dunwich Shingle Street and Orford. Lots of dog friendly coffee shops and pubs - the soft apple & cinammon cake at the Two Magpies is to die for and returning to sit out in the sun before dinner and a visit to the pub on days when it was open. Everything in the cottage was well presented - it is lovely and homely thank you.

This was our first holiday with our 8 1/2 month old puppy. We chose the cottage with her in mind - wooden floors and no grass in the garden! That said, this is one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Eating breakfast each day in the garden, walking the dog friendly beaches of Aldeburgh towards Thorpness, Dunwich Shingle street and Orford. Lots of dog friendly coffee shops and pubs - the soft apple and cinnamon cake at the Two Magpies is to die for and returning to sit in the sun before dinner and a visit to the pub on days it was open. Everything in the cottage was well presented- it is lovely and homely. Thank you

We have really enjoyed staying in this wonderful cottage and appreciated the little touches, dog biscuits, flowers etc. Briar cottage has been the perfect base to explore the area. Our highlights have been:

Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh (lovely afternoon tea at the Crag Sisters tearooms) Southwold Pier- a little gem. The Crown at Framlington (dogs welcome in the courtyard), we really loved walking on an almost deserted Walberswick Beach. We have had a really relaxing holiday - fab.

A beautiful cottage with beautiful decor!
So warm, cosy and welcoming - we have so enjoyed our time here! Olive has had great fun exploring secret paths and making doggie friends and his humans have visited various local towns and resorts. We booked Briar Cottage because of its proximity to Snape, as we had booked a concert there for our first evening. An ideal cottage for music lovers!

This was my first holiday on my own, well Louis was here but lurchers are not know for their protective guard dog characteristics. I was worried about picking the wrong cottage, getting spooked, all that sort of thing. I needn't have worried, the cottage is faultless. It has a luxury feel from the White Company smellies and towels (I have put fresh mint on my Christmas list), John Lewis and Joseph Joseph utensils to the Waitrose welcome nibbles (thank you). The bed is divine, smart tv entertainment and the log burner a real treat. I wanted for nothing. I did the walk at Snape Maltings to Iken Church, then back for a browse in the shops and galleries and a stop for a welcome Latte.

Day two was a walk from Orford Quay along the sea wall and back with a stop off at Pump Street Bakery for a Latte and divine almond croissant, loved it. Thank you.
