Flat equipped to a very high standard and super comfy bed. Welcome basket much appreciated as always. Weather terrible, we got absolutely soaked! So thoughtful, provision of electric dryer was very welcome! We were lucky to get a parking spot in the small car park for £7 per day, otherwise we'd have got even wetter. Hope to come back here when the sun is out. The Standard Inn has two excellent local real ales and Simply Italian authentic and good.

Thank you for a fantastic stay in a beautifully appointed apartment. There is everything you need and more. The welcome pack was much appreciated. Great base for exploring this lovely area without a car, for example, walk to Rye Harbour and have tea at Avocet Tea Rooms and Gallery and lunch at the Inkerman Arms. Walk to Winchelsea through the nature reserve, fantastic bird watching. Walk to camber sands and bus back. The Jazz was also great. In Rye town, lunch and snacks at Hayden's Tea Room and also Cobbles Tea room. Meals at Webbe's, Kings Arms at Rye Hill, The Standard Inn, Ypres Castle. Didn't enjoy the Italian much. Found the propert a little noisy with traffic noise but it didn't spoil the holiday. Many thanks.

Very enjoyable stay, excellent area with outstanding accommodation. Local transport right on the doorstep. Lovely change to leave the car behind. Short walk to collect car from railway station at a minimal cost. Thank you to the owner for letting us have full use of everything.

Our first visit to this area and not disappointed. Found loads to do. National Trust properties - Lamb House, Smallhythe Place, former home of actress Ellen Terry, full of her costumes, memorabilia etc. Enjoyed walk around Rye Harbour nature reserve and Dungeness RSPB. Apartment was spacious and clean, only disappointment was the entrance and hallway. Enjoyed the eateries especially Landgate Bistro and The Standard Inn. Worth the Journey. Thanks

Thank you for a wonderful five night stay in this super and very clean apartment. We loved the mix of original features with new touches. The attention to detail is extremely high. We noticed, for example, that the wooden new fire door in the hall has hadbeading attached, to make it look much older and blend in with the age of the apartment. Have had excellent meals at The Standard, Simply Italian and William the Conquerer at Rye Harbour. We have enjoyed visiting many places, including Pevensey Castle, Battle, the delightful Devonshire Theatre at Eastbourne (very good tapas bar close by called Flaminco) and climbing up to the church tower in Rye. Wow! What a view. Thank you so much

A difficult apartment to find, but worth the confusion. Comfortable stay with a lovely welcome pack. Plenty of places to visit and the weather was kind. Rye is a beautiful town and the central location was great. The only downside was consistently finding change to feed the parking meters. However, a good holiday.

What a great flat. The photos do not do it justice. An ideal base for exploring the area. Two completely different landscapes are; Dungeness - wild and bleak and Great Dixter Gardens - lovely in the Autumn sun.

This is a spacious and very comfortable flat for two people and is ideally located for discovering Rye on foot. The car park behind the Kettle O' Fish is close and convenient but once you have dumped your luggage, the car park by the station is a cheaper option if you don't mind walking a bit further. Lots of good restaurants catering for all tastes. Simply Italian is pleasant and good for children too. Hayden's is an excellent cafe - restaurant with friendly staff and great cream teas. We'll have to wait for our next trip to Rye to taste the offerings of the more up-market eateries, which all look very tempting. Many thanks.

What a wonderfully comfortable apartment! It's made a great base for exploring the local area. Lovely to visit Lamb House, the inspiration behind the Mapp & Lucia novels. We ate at Simply Italian (good, rustic food) and Marino's fish and chip restaurant. There are plenty of National Trust properties to visit - Bodian Castle and Smallyhythe Place were worth the trip, plus a wander around Camber Sands and even a daytrip to Brighton! Many thanks for the welcome hamper (much appreciated).

Well appointed apartment - very clean and uncluttered. A good weekend here in Rye. Try Landgate Bistro, nice staff, good food - or The Salt, a little more old fashioned clean, white linen, crystal but none the worse for that.

We've had a most enjoyable minibreak in the delightful Rye. Whilst here we've enjoyed:
  • Exploring the streets of Rye; would highly recommend a guided walk with Rye Historical Walks
  • Hot chocolate from Knoops (required in a chilly July)
  • Great Dixter Garden in the sunshine
  • Pett Level beach (peaceful walk; also one for David Bowie fans as the site of the Ashes to Ashes video)

Fantastic and comfortable apartment with everything you could need. Rye has been a real treat and with everything on your doorstep. We enjoyed a beautiful meal at the Ship Inn next dore and the burgers at Hoof are highly recommended. The weather has been super and has made our stay even more pleasant. If you wish to go further afield, Dover Castle is a must, hours of interesting things to see. Very pleased with our booking and will most definitely recommend to friends and family.

One of the best located Rural Retreats we have stayed in. Right in the middle of everything. We had good weather and a wonderful stay. One problem - after using your induction hob I have now demanded one when we get home!

Very restful and comfortable apartment. Good walking and bird interest in the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. Simply Italian was open Monday evening when most other places were closed. We found it satisfying and friendly and ate al fresco. Bodean Castle was a pleasant, quickly reached, trip providing lunch with history.

An excellent week here in Rye in this beautiful apartment despite sweltering temperatures! If you are keen gardeners we warmly recommend Dixter about 30 minutes away and, as an antidote to the wild profusion there, Sissinghurst about an hour away. If you are foodies we recommend Webbes Fish Cafe, the Mermaid Inn and best of all Tuscan Kitchen - great atmosphere and wonderful authentic tuscan cuisine. And lastly a big thank you to Tina for an immaculate apartment, a well chosen hamper and the lovely flowers.

After a long journey from West Wales it was great to arrive at such a delightful apartment with everything you could possibly need.
Recommend visits to: Tunbridge Wells; National Trust properties - Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Small Hythe Place, Scotney Castle, Lambs House & Bodium Castle.
Circular walks using OS map provided to Winchelsea, Camber Castle and Sands, Hastings & Battle.
We were extremely lucky for weather and enjoyed walking around the old town of Rye with so much history.

What a lovely flat! Thank you for all the extras that made it a special place to stay- everything so well thought out.
Rye of course is lovely but so is the surrounding area. We were very lucky with the weather and had some good cycle rides. Great food in and out . We especially loved "Simply Italian", and the Rye Deli for food to eat in.
We will certainly be recommending 1 Harbour View to others!

We have had a lovely short break in Rye. 1 Harbour View lived up to our high expectations of a Rural Retreats property. Thanks Tina for the hamper and fresh flowers along with the excellent up-keep of this apartment. Would recommend a trip up St Mary's Church tower for a fantastic view of the area and also Camber Sands for a brisk January walk. We had a very good evening meal at The Ship Inn last night, would definitely recommend it. Thanks.

A much needed break from running our business in this beautiful apartment is just what we required.
Tina, thank you for your attention to detail, especially with all the lovely Christmas decorations, wine, fizz, flowers and a lovely hamper. The apartment is very comfy/cosy and very well kitted out.
Fish n chips at Marino's was as lovely as the last time. We ate at The Ship Inn on New Years Eve and that was delicious. Finished off with Sunday lunch at the Globe Inn Marsh - great place. We have been before and it didn't disappoint. We have had a great time away and that was mostly due to this lovely apartment. Thanks once again.

Beautiful apartment in a great location. Such a treat to be able to walk to all that Rye offers. Webbe's fish restaurant is excellent and Kino cinema delightful. Able to cycle from the apartment to Camber Sands and also Winchelsea Beach. We were blessed with gorgeous sunny days (albeit very cold!) so have had a wonderful break. Thank you.

Great accommodation and lovely town in which to relax for a few days. We did a number of walks by making use of the buses to travel one way: Rye to Winchelsea, Rye Harbour to Winchelsea, Winchelsea to Icklesham. We also enjoyed a visit to Hastings and a walk along Camber Sands - again travelling by bus. Our favourite place for food and beer was The Standard Inn on High Street.

We've had a wonderful holiday, celebrating our wedding anniversary. Perfect apartment for that - everything so well thought out and comfortable, many thanks. Rye is so lovely, you could spend all your time in the town. But we've had some great days out (Hastings, RHDLR, Tenterden & Chapel Down Winery) and lovely walks. The OS maps were a great find in the leaflets basket. Easy walk to Camber Castle and on to Rye Harbour (good lunch in the William the Conqueror) and bus to Winchelsea, then walk on to Icklesham for fab lunch in the Queen's Head. In Rye, our stand out meal was at Tuscan Rye - highly recommended.

The best apartment we've ever stayed in - absolutely fantastic. Well equipped with everything you need from a beautiful, comfortable bed to a brilliant kitchen and lounge. The welcome hamper was brilliant - everything was tasty and really well thought out. The apartment is spotless and maintained to a very high standard. Whoever does the cleaning deserves a medal - fantastic job. Would be more than happy for you to clean my house! We've had a great time and would definitely look to come back.

Thanks very much. Beautiful apartment. We loved all the little personal touches such as the hamper! Very clean, well equipped. Great having the maps in the living room. Thanks very much.
Apartment is beautiful and extremely well fitted out - everything has been thought of. The lovely welcome hamper lasted ages and the vase of fresh flowers was a lovely touch. We ate at Carey's, opposite and had fish & chips from Manno's. The old town of Rye is charming. We visited Chatwell (rather a long way), Sissinghurst and Bodiam - all interesting and beautiful in their own way.
