What a superb property! A beautiful and peaceful location within walking distance of a great pub! A 13 mile walk around Bewl Water, train to Bodiam Castle and Ightham Mote all memorable highlights of a fantastic break. We will return as there is so much more to explore! Thank you Angela

Thank you for a super stay at your lovely oast house. The peace and quiet were most welcome after the hurly burly of Bath. Village charming. Mine host at The Bull charming, and fishmonger at The Bell on Saturday morning a rare treat; best potted shrimps ever!! Another treat the wood burner.

We have has a delightful stay in the Oast House. Have enjoyed the setting and the house itself. We have walked on the marshes at Rye and surrounding valleys, as well as visiting Sissinghurst and local churches. We hope to return. The English Spring beautiful despite hail and rain (and some sun!).

The Oast House is in a great location - we loved seeing the little bunnies in the garden and the horses nearby. Cottage has everything we need - kitchen very well kitted out. The whole place is spotless - thank you for the effort and thought gone into making this a wonderful place to stay. We walked (part way) round Bewl Water, had a fabulous (and windy) day at Camber Sands - the beach is amazing, and went bike-riding at Bedgebury. P.S. The scones were delicious - thank you so much

Lovely break, despite storm Gareth! Cottage very welcoming. Can honestly say the best equipped and hamper with Rural Retreats. Visited Brighton - pavilion worth a visit. For individual quirky shops try Rye and Old Hastings. Sad to be leaving. Thank you.

Such a lovely property and a wonderful relaxing stay, lovely hamper and Angela was so helpful when we had a min power cut. Bodiam Castle was a lovely fairytale place to visit and Battle added some more history to our stay. The local farm shop (Eggs to Apples) was brilliant and had everything we needed. Dinner at The Bell in Ticehurst was lovely, but even better was Sunday lunch at The Bull, a really lovely family pub environment - everybody so welcoming. We will definitely be back. Thank you :)

Our first stay here, the best RR accommodation by far. Everything you could want in the kitchen and my dream came true to see 2 horses so close by. Excellent meals at The Bell and The Bull. Hope to come back further into the year though the snow made the Oast House even more magical.

Had a lovely, relaxing, pre-Christmas stay. Beautiful location and a beautifully presented property. Enjoyed a walk round Bewl lake, cut out most of the road walking by taking a water taxi from Ferry Point to the opposite shore. Rye worth a visit for the historic buildings, Scotney Castle lovely and enjoyed wine tasting at Hush Heath winery. Had a meal at The Bull which was OK, but wouldn’t rush back. Merry Christmas!

We stayed here before in 2015. We were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary and decided to do a “greatest hits” tour of some of our favourite places to go back to. This is a fabulous place. You’ve done yourselves proud by the restoration and rejuvenation of Bakers Farm. It has been a joy to go to sleep here, wake up here, and return after days of exploration of this exceptionally beautiful part of the world. It has been a wonderful joy to connect the “dots” of John’s family history and ancestors here at Bakers and in the locale. Thank you so much for sharing a little bit of yourselves with us and showing us John’s ancestral home. It has been awesome. We are so pleased to be able to share the drone shots we took of Bakers Farm with you and also some of the details of the Field family who once were tenant farmers. We wish you well.

Mr & Mrs C, Canada.

We’ve stayed in many Rural Retreats and this one is simply the best! we enjoyed Bateman’s, Tunbridge Wells, and the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, lovely little steam trains. Going to Pashley Manor Gardens today. Loved this house, quiet, comfortable and cosy! Thank you.

A wonderfully relaxing house that was a great base for touring the local area. The house was sometimes a little too appealing, as our 4 year old son couldn’t wait to get back to it!
A lovely place to stay!

Lovely comfortable house. So peaceful which is what we truly loved. Opening curtains to see horses in the field and outside the back door squirrels running along the fence. We visited Bewl Water, Bedgebury Forest, Tunbridge Wells, Camber Sands and Rye and Hever Castle. Lovely area and friendly people

Two weeks of unbelievable English summer sunshine! How did you do it? Rain on our final day was a welcome relief! Much to celebrate in our fortnight here - but the best bit of the holiday was first this house. It’s pretty much perfect - comfortable and private, quiet and picturesque. Thank you so much.

We had a wonderful holiday in this beautiful cottage, we will miss the quiet, the view, and especially the sheep! They love the pears and our daughter enjoyed feeding them. It is a perfect spot to discover the area, near castles, beaches and London. The Bull is our favourite pub nearby.
Thanks again for these great memories and we hope to come back to use the stove!

What a wonderful time we’ve had in this idyllic place. We’ve met up with family and friends - a perfect return to the UK for this get-together. Pashley Manor was stunning and Scotney as charming as we remember. We were lucky enough to see a badger at dusk! Thank you for sharing this beautiful part of your home - we leave with the happiest of memories.

The oast house is wonderful - so beautifully restored with tasteful decoration and modern facilities. We loved the kitchen! It is so lovely and clean, homely, and felt so relaxing. What a wonderful place! We have had such a great time in your lovely retreat which has everything one could wish for. The care and attention to detail is exceptional. Our holiday has passed all too quickly. The highlights include the fab walk around Bewl Water, and our visit to Pashley Manor Gardens (café superb too!). We will definitely be back next year to further explore the area, and of course to relax and chill in Baker’s Farm Oast. Thank you so much!

How lucky we are to be staying in this beautifully renovated oast, surrounded by such peaceful countryside, with squirrels, rabbits, hares, pheasants and a woodpecker for company. If you enjoy gardens, Sissinghurst in June is a feast for the eyes and Pashley Manor Gardens, an unusual and relaxing visit. There is so much to see in this beautiful area. And thank you for the delicious scones!

The oast house was perfect for a lovely relaxing stay in a lovely (sorry that’s two “lovelys”) part of the country. I had to control myself from wolfing down the delicious bread and scones all on day one. We return to the madness of London with our souls restored by birdsong, the incomparable English countryside and air so clean had forgotten what it was like. Even the “Mother of All Storms” last night only added to the beauty (sorry about the gorgeous tree by the gate though…).
Thank you .…you’ve certainly worked out the key to living a good life here!
Thanks and all best wishes x

So nice here, I am back for a return visit with husband and mum-in-law this time. A very comfortable stay in your lovely oast house. Great days out and very lucky with the weather. Been to Pashley Manor Gardens, Merriments, Batemans (NT), Chartwell (NT), Great Comp Garden (between Maidstone and Sevenoaks - A20) and a walk to Bewl. Enjoyed seeing bats outside! Best meal at The Bell, not so good at The Bull. 10/10 for a lovely break in a lovely holiday home.

We have been blown away by this stunning idyll, and definitely hope to return. A morning walk along the peninsula has proved an unexpected delight too especially in such sunshine! Worth visiting for art lovers - All Saints Church, Tudeley where all the stained glass windows are by Marc Chagall!! Who knew? Everything has been exceptional - thank you Angela and Nick.

We arrived with excellent weather: sun, clear blue sky and warmth. We were prepared for typical English weather and so we had our second day. Although it’s raining, it’s still so beautiful around here. We love the place, very luxury, nice details and a lovely welcome basket. Even the sheep were welcoming us! The walk to the lake was long enough for our three year old, and Rye was pretty. Thanks for having us!

Had a lovely stay here, I’d recommend it as there’s lots of logs for the fire! It was very cosy.

12 March 2018
Chillin’ in front of the fire, if that’s not a contradiction in terms, was top notch. It was lit.
Top tips:
1. Do the Spitfire jigsaw and spot the oast.
2. Hever Castle very interesting, loads to see.
3. The Vineyard at Lamberhurst has good meals and a nice atmosphere.
4. Did part of the walk around the lake, very muddy but very enjoyable.
5. Do not make eye contact with the sheep.
6. Do not challenge your child to a game of “Line Up 4”, it will be very intimidating.

We have very much enjoyed our stay here at the Oast House. The house was very welcoming on our arrival (and clean!). Our two young daughters loved all of the books and boardgames, as did we. The house is very well located and we had some wonderful adventures at Scotney Castle, Bateman’s and at Bodiam Castle. We all loved our cosy evenings together around the woodburning stove (the only thing missing was a little stash of blankets to snuggle under on the sofas!). Thank you Angela and Nick for a fantastic stay! We would not hesitate in coming back and we’ll be sure to recommend you to everyone! À bientôt!

We’ve really enjoyed our weekend break in this lovely house and its fabulous location. A great place to spend a birthday! We loved our short (and muddy) walks to the village via the footpath and to Bewl Water - both culminating in a pub visit! Mainly we enjoyed relaxing in front of the fire, eating, chilling and drinking. We would love to come back soon!

13 November 2017
With our second visit being at a different time of year, it has given us a new experience: beautiful sunny days, glorious autumn colours and leaves falling as the first frosts of winter arrived. We have put our N.T. memberships to good use, and returned “home” to enjoy a cosy evening by the log fire. Thank you for the never ending supply of wood and such a generous welcome hamper. Once again we have been blessed by our time spent here. Thank you.

Mr and Mrs F, Hampshire
29 October 2017
Thank you for our second lovely stay here. We love all the views around the house. And there is so much to do around here. This time we tried Go Ape at Bedgebury Pinetum (which we all enjoyed) and our son tried dry-slope skiing for the first time (which was a great success). We also enjoyed visiting the Lighthouse Bakery in Ticehurst and swimming in Weald. The walk to the lake and around (just a little bit…for us) was also lovely. Today we are off to Battle to visit the site of the Battle of Hastings. It has been wonderful to have such a comfortable base from which to do all this and relax in the evenings. Thank you!

The G Family, London
25 October 2017
We have really enjoyed our stay in the Oast House - trips to Rye, Tunbridge Wells, Herstmonceaux and the De La Warr Pavillion at Bexhill, then back to curl up in front of the log burner or walk to the Bull for a delicious meal. It is so peaceful and lovely to see so many stars and hear the hooting owl. One suggestion - a grab rail in the shower. Mum who celebrated her 87th birthday here, would have appreciated one.

Owner response: I have looked at this but the shower and bath controls are on the wall where one would put a grab rail and so sadly it’s not possible.

A very comfortable and well equipped conversion in a historic, beautiful and peaceful setting. Especially loved the kitchen and the pear-eating sheep outside. It’s a great location for visiting lots of interesting places, and the weather, whilst fresh, has been largely dry with plenty of sunshine.
Thanks Angela and Nick for providing such a lovely place to stay.

Fabulous and relaxing - only sheep bleating in the background. Such a cosy little place with great accommodation and well equipped. Extremely clean and tidy. No real complaints and hard to fault - only suggestions are maybe more lamps/candles in the living area, napkins, pillows were a little soft - but nothing detracted from a lovely stay and would certainly come again!! Thank you.

Thanks you so much Angela and Nick - we have had a wonderful stay in this lovely oast - everything was perfect, including the weather. Loved the baby rabbits mad hour just as the sun is setting and the busy squirrels scrumping the pears. If you sit under the hazel tree, be warned! The debris under the tree is their work!! We got lazier and lazier, so I guess we’ll just have to come back and explore the area! Fabulous!!

Perfik!
We loved the pictures of Bakers Farm Oast from the minute we first saw it available on Rural Retreats, and so pleased to have had the opportunity to visit for a birthday celebration. It definitely lived up to our expectations. We would welcome the chance to come again as location and things to do are just brilliant - and not too far for us too!
Thank you, and hope to see you again.

This is our second visit and it was every bit as idyllic as our original stay last June. The cottage is beautiful and has everything you would need. We spent many happy hours relaxing in the sunshine on the patio with the gorgeous view. Places we recommend to visit: Bewl Water, Scotney Castle, Pashley Manor Gardens, Sissinghurst, Bodiam Castle and Bateman’s. We also enjoyed dinner at The George in Robertsbridge and lunch at The Greedy Goat Cafe in Ticehurst. Thank you for such an enjoyable stay!

Spent a wonderful few days in this comfortable Oast in an idyllic setting. Amazing wildlife from the window - rabbits, morons, woodpeckers and a badger!
So much to do in the area we were spoilt for choice! Fantastic boat trip from Bodiam Boating Station to Bodiam Castle, hired bikes at Bewl, visited the beautiful Scotty Castle, Rye (highly recommend The Fig for brunch), the wild Rye Nature Reserve, of course Battle (great exhibition, film, Battle walk), plus of course great walks from the Oast to Bewl, Ticehurst, and the obligatory early evening drinks at The Bull!!

A fantastic property, we’ve stayed at many Rural Retreats properties and this is up there with the best! So peaceful with lovely views, yet near good pubs and places to visit. We hope to come back again. Thank you!

Thanks for a fantastic stay in such a peaceful home from home. Great location for walking, National Trust properties and historic towns. Walked Bewl Water (13 miles). Visited Batemans, Knowle, Chartwell and Bodiam Castle (all NT). Bedgebury Pinetum also great for a walk or bike ride in a beautiful setting. Ate at The Bull Inn (good hearty pub food), and The Bell Inn Ticehurst (a little more fine dining, but more expensive). A great part of the world, Rye, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Lewes all worth a visit, but great to come home at the end of the day to chill out in such a lovely cottage. Thanks again.

Mr and Mrs S, Rugby
24 March 2017
We spent a terrific and energising week in the “High Weald” countryside. Did lovely walks and runs, visited the beautiful town of Royal Tunbridge Wells.
The oast is very well located and gave us everything we could wish for. We slept very well in this peaceful environment.
Thank you.
Mr and Mrs W, Belgium

A wonderful relaxing week. Many a happy hour spent in front of the wood burner with a good book! The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed. Fantastic 7 miles walk up to the reservoir and into Ticehurst on a lovely sunny day! Thank you for all your effort to make this a lovely getaway.
Mr & Mrs L, Cambridgeshire

Our second visit, looking forward to our third. Excellent, top of the range, Rural Retreat. The Bull good food and beer. Very good conversion of an oast house - deserves a design award. Missing seeing a fox or two this year! Many thanks.

Mr & Mrs D, Buckinghamshire
20 February 2017
We woke up to snow on our first morning, and as the week went by, Spring arrived. Daffodils inside (thank you) and catkins outside. This has been a perfect rural retreat to return to after a walk at Bewl Water and to sit curled up with a book, relaxing by the wood burning stove. We leave with our batteries recharged and with precious memories. Thank you.
Mr & Mrs F, Hampshire
7 February 2017
Wonderful relaxing break with our daughter before her wedding. Oast house is beautiful with amazing scenery. Visited the quaint local pub The Bull and can recommend Spice Cottage in Ticehurst for a take-away. Rye well worth a visit. Thank you so much for everything.

30 January 2017
We had a fantastic winter weekend here. The oasthouse is extremely warm, comfortable, and beautifully furnished (and amazingly clean!). This is the nicest Rural Retreats property I have stayed in. We loved the location too - absolutely quiet and peaceful, and the close proximity to lots of NT properties. We visited Scotney and Bodiam Castles, and had Sunday lunch at the Salehurst Halt after a visit to Bodiam - highly recommended. Thank you for a fantastic welcome basket and a great weekend.
PS Thank you for such a generous portion of logs.
Mr & Mrs Q, London

This is simply a beautiful home. At every turn, we found just the right thing for the job, in the kitchen especially. Wonderfully quiet, beautiful stars, a Christmas tree with lights and holly - all so welcoming. We would not hesitate to come back again - thank you for making a small haven for us on our visit!

A very comfortable cottage with all the amenities - a nice home away from home. Good walking, close to good pubs - a good overall location. Thanks for the starter provisions - much appreciated after a long drive from Heathrow. Quality start to finish.
Thank you Angela and Family.

This is our second visit to Bakers Farm Oast. We have had an amazing two days staying in your gorgeous house. The property is so well presented and makes for a very relaxing weekend in the country. Lots of nice walks around Bewl lake. Thank you for the birthday cake. See you again soon.

Mr & Mrs F, Surrey
4 November 2016
Bakers Farm Oast is even better than the photos would suggest! A superb conversion, and we have always wanted to stay in an Oast House. Well done, your hard work has paid off with a quality holiday home, tasteful and stylish interiors, and we love the kitchen! We are here to celebrate Mum’s big birthday and meet up with family and friends over Kent (we used to live in Tonbridge) so not done as much sightseeing locally as we would have liked this trip. Will have to return again and see the wonderful gardens and NT properties nearby. Thank you for the generous welcome hamper and for sharing this comfortable and well equipped RR with us.

25 October 2016
We have greatly enjoyed our second visit to this lovely Oast House - although rather more log fires and less BBQing! (what an excellent clean-burn the wood burner is too!) We visited The Bell and The Bull for dinner - really excellent service and atmosphere in the latter. Also cycled around Bewl Water (hard work!) and a day in Rye - a lovely town with lots of individual shops and cafes, walks and local interest. The Lighthouse Bakery is just great. Determined to come back and do a course.

Mr and Mrs M, Gloucestershire
22 October 2016
We have had a lovely stay. Thank you! Just too short! We enjoyed a walk to the lake, a splash in the local pool, a visit to Scotty Castle and today we are off to the observatory. It has been nice just to relax here - beautiful views and a great fire. Thank you again!

Mr and Mrs G, Wimbledon
18 October 2016
We have enjoyed staying at Bakers Farm Oast House. A lovely accommodation, convenient, comfortable and well maintained. We could live here and especially enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. Very well placed for visiting NT properties and we found a real treasure when we visited Pashley Manor Gardens just outside of Ticehurst. We hope to visit again, and visit during another season. Thank you.

Mr and Mrs G, Hertfordshire

I booked this absolutely stunning property for my wedding weekend and what a fabulous place to stay. Would so love to live here. It made a wonderful place to spend an evening with my mum and bridesmaids and then a tranquil setting to get ready on the big day.
The welcome hamper was exquisite and Angela’s very warm welcome made a truly memorable weekend. We will return one year, perhaps to celebrate our anniversary.
Thank you

Mrs W, East Sussex
11 September 2016
The beautiful house and surroundings make this a very special Rural Retreats property. We, like many others, hope to return. Thank you Angela for your welcome, your advice, and for the way you have organised everything here so well.

Mr and Mrs L, Northamptonshire
2 September 2016
Stunning accommodation and wonderful location for all the local places of interest. So spotlessly clean we didn’t feel the need to inspect the kitchen equipment before use. Everything here is so well thought out - all requirements catered for. A perfect stay.

17 August 2016
A beautiful, well equipped cottage in such a peaceful setting. We’ve had a wonderful holiday and even the weather has been kind to us for once! Bakers Farm Oast gets a gold medal from us!

Miss J, Wirral
3 August 2016
We absolutely loved it here. So peaceful and beautiful. The oast is furnished and equipped to a very high standard and we had everything that we could possibly need (we now want a circular kitchen!). We have been to so many places - Rye is lovely - do visit the town model, it’s fascinating. We walked to Pashley Manor Gardens - gorgeous garden and lunch, but we don’t recommend walking there as some of the route is 60mph with no pavement or verges! Both The Bull and The Bell are great walkable pubs with helpful staff. We loved the lack of street lighting which meant the Perseid Meteor Shower was even better than we’ve ever seen. Ashdown Forest (Winnie-the-Pooh) is worth the drive - about 40 minutes - spectacular scenery and we played Pooh sticks. We’d love to come back. Thank you Anderson family for creating such a wonderful holiday cottage/oast/heaven.

Ms A, North Wales
21 July 2016
Wonderful house and garden - enjoyed the sheep until they moved pastures. Fantastic village bakery and fishmonger on a Saturday - plus The Bull and fruit picking down the road. Enjoyed the wonderful NT gardens.

Mr and Mrs C, Oregon - USA
13 July 2016
Fantastic house and location - have had a wonderful break. Highly recommend the observatory/science centre at Herstmonceaux as well as the castle gardens - great for young and old alike! The Bull is good for food, but don’t have a starter if you want to have any chance of finishing your main! We’ve had a lovely time wherever we’ve been, and been able to chill out and relax at the end of the day. Thanks for a wonderful stay :)

Mr and Mrs R, Cheltenham
1 July 2016
A beautiful cottage that we thoroughly enjoyed. Idyllic surroundings and SO QUIET!! We only had 3 nights here and found we just wanted to stay here and relax (after 6 weeks of travelling all over England). Perfect weather for the end of our holiday. We have enjoyed all of our Rural Retreat stays and this one is certainly a highlight. We just wish our GPS would stop sending us down the narrowest tracks it can find. Thank you.

Mr & Mrs M, Sydney Australia
26 June 2016
This is certainly one of the best Rural Retreats cottages we have been to - everything clean and well organised. Enjoyed the sunny afternoons on the patio - even spotted a flypast by a spitfire! Would recommend a visit to Hever Castle! Thank you!

12 June 2016
We have enjoyed our stay, helped by the beautiful house and surroundings. Particularly enjoyed visiting Rye and Pashley Manor Gardens (flowers superb and cakes scrumptious). The Bell Inn is very friendly with good food and an easy walk. Watch out for the entertaining grey squirrel who likes to sunbathe!

Mr & Mrs O, Cumbria
5 June 2016
We have had a wonderful visit. Blessed with wall-to-wall sunshine, so 3 full day bike rides and BBQs 5 nights out of 7 watching Mrs Magpie feed her young and later in the week teach them to fly, rabbits, sheep, ducks and stunning sunsets. Pashley Manor Gardens was a great recommendation and we enjoyed lunch at The Milkhouse, Sissinghurst. Thank you so much. The Oast House is stunning; we have slept like logs and been really comfortable. We can’t wait to return and do everything there hasn’t been time for. We haven’t even been to Bewl Water yet!! BTW the Park Run at Bedgebury Forest is a good one.

Mr and Mrs M, The Cotswolds
29 May 2016
Fantastic property! Perfect condition, and comprehensively stocked (great book collection, thanks!). Extremely comfortable and warm, even on chilly, rainy evenings. Lots of cycling around Bewl Water and in Bedgebury Forest. A couple of NT properties. Hope to return soon. Thanks to Angela and family.

Pristine property, and so peaceful. Lovely lunches at Beale’s Barn and Merriments Garden Centre. The Codgers Menu (over 65s) at The Bull is very good value for excellent food. We hope to come again.

Thank you very much. The oast house has been a faultless haven for the week. It has all the comforts of modern life, and none of the drawbacks - noise, lights, clutter etc. We all feel very much better after our peaceful holiday. The Bull is a lovely pub. Also really enjoyed Great Dixter garden and a day in Brighton. Had two lovely pub lunches - The Bull at Benenden and The Bottle House near Penshurst. Lovely walk around the headland. THANK YOU.

H R, Derbyshire
13 April 2016
We had the best time, setting is beautiful! Kids enjoyed seeing the sheep, horses, squirrels, pheasants and rabbits so close and we enjoyed days out to Bodiam Castle, Bedgebury Forest and Groombridge. So nice to return to the oast after a tiring day. The house had everything we needed and the hamper was great (the apple juice went down well!). We can recommend The Bell and The Bull for a family pub meal. P.S. Mummy had the best 40th birthday whilst she was here. Thank you!

The Hentzen Family
8 April 2016
We have enjoyed our stay in the oast house. Also we went to lots of places - the Seven Sisters, Bewl Water, Ticehurst, and the Battle place of 1066. The house was nice to be able to come back and relax in another place. Our beds were soft, games fun, and the polished floor a bit slippery. The apple juice and biscuits you left us we ate and drank and enjoyed. We munched through nearly all of your oranges you left us to eat. Going into Ticehurst from the oast house. A pub called The Bell we went to. For breakfast we usually had your Alpen you left us. As we have so enjoyed our stay we shall recommend this oast house. Thanks for everything.

We had a lovely weekend break here. Visited both The Bull and The Bell - both great. Had a lovely morning at Bewl Lake with our children (2 1/2 and 5 1/2 years) enjoyed playing - 2 playgrounds, pirate ship. Spent rainy afternoon relaxing in the oast with a roaring fire - lovely! This is a great place, we have lots more to visit in the warmer/drier months - we will be back!

The Weller Family
5 January 2016
Had a wonderful break at the oast house. Very well equipped, great location. Enjoyed breakfast seeing sheep outside the window. Despite the rain we got out and about. Battle was interesting although the battlefield was closed due to rain. Went to Rye and Winchelsea. Ate at both The Bull and The Bell. Enjoyed the woodburning stove and the whole novelty of this little haven.

20 November 2015
Having already been to five “Rural Retreats” around the country we found Bakers Farm Oast to be the very best. The décor, fixtures and fittings are all so well chosen. It is such a wonderful, relaxing place to be with amazing views from every window.
Tunbridge Wells and Rye are worth visiting, also we have been lucky to be able to take in the “Midwinter Fair” at Bedgebury Pinetum – really enjoyable.
Great walks to Bewl Water and excellent meals at The Bull.
Thank you Angela for making our stay a fantastic break.
The Carroll Family
12 November 2015
What a haven! We have enjoyed a much needed rest in this beautiful property. We even saw a pheasant strolling past the French doors at breakfast time! The property has been finished to an exceedingly high standard, with no skimping on the fixtures, fittings and accessories. We enjoyed doing the 7 mile Ticehurst circular walk which took in part of the walk around Bewl Water. Rye was worth a visit with some very quaint and quirky shops. Even bought a few Christmas gifts.
We received a very warm welcome at The Bull, just down the road, and enjoyed a couple of delicious meals there.
Thank you so much to The Anderson Family for sharing this little gem with us!

Mr & Mrs Breakspear
30 October 2015
We absolutely loved our stay from the moment we arrived and saw our lovely welcome hamper with the “delicious” apple juice (our son loved it). The house is gorgeously decorated, and the attention to detail is apparent throughout. We managed to light a fire every day and enjoy the cosy autumn evenings. In fact, we can’t wait to come back and enjoy other seasons in the oast! Thank you to the Anderson family!!
The Caveney Family
15 October 2015
The best Rural Retreats holiday we have been on so far. Lovely 13 mile walk around Bewl Water followed by a drink at The Bull. Beautiful scenery everywhere you look, perfect for a peaceful get away. I look forward to hopefully returning one day.
Mr Schofield
11 October 2015
Excellent property, very relaxing and such a great base to explore south-east England. Loved our meals at The Bull. Did the whole 13 mile walk around Bewl Water which was beautiful. Had fantastic weather the whole time and cool enough at night to light a fire in the wood stove. Even saw a fox right outside the door. All-in-all, loved the oast and all the people we have met during our stay here.
Mr & Mrs Huber

A beautiful property in a tranquil and useful location. This is the sort of house I would buy myself. We visit this area regularly and will be back. We’ve been unlucky with the weather, but the stay has nonetheless been restful and the quiet much appreciated. Thank you for all the goodies – excellent choices and presentation. Highly recommended!

A fantastic property in a great part of the country. Loads of places to visit in the area and the coast is only 30 minutes away. Walk to the headland worthwhile, and if you like blackberries take a bag as there are loads!

You’ve done a wonderful job on the oast house! Quite the best kitted out cottage we have been in. We hope to return so that we can continue to explore the area for a possible move from London. A rainy afternoon at Bateman’s yesterday was really atmospheric.

A wonderful few days away for me and my family. The oast house is truly wonderful and decorated so tastefully. The girls loved their grown-up bedroom and couldn’t wait to get outside and play in the “really big garden”. Hubby and I enjoyed many lovely hours every evening dining outside or just relaxing and reading a good book. Lots to do for the family out and around the area. We are already deciding on the date for our return visit
Mrs Chilvers

Fantastic weekend – due to fantastic accommodation, plus fantastic weather!! Weather was so good we couldn’t light the woodburning stove L. Great walks around Bewl Water, made friends with many wet dogs! J! Would reccommend take-away from Spice Cottage, also the burgers at The Bell are top taste! Beware The Bull Sundays after 5pm – kitchen closes – no food! Don’t forget to look up – the stars are amazing!!! The peace!!!!
