Hendricks Hollow holiday home details

With its original wooden beams and vaulted ceiling as well as the original stone walls, Hendricks Hollow is a charming property that’s filled with character. Step into the front room and you’ll be greeted by a large and airy open-plan living space, with a well-equipped kitchen, a romantic dining table for two and a cosy sofa in front of the wood-burning stove. Logs are kindly provided by the owners.

In the large and comfortable bedroom, the super king size bed can be converted into two singles if you prefer, please just let us know before you arrive. Outside, there’s a patio with garden furniture, the perfect spot for enjoying a coffee first thing or perhaps a glass of wine in the evening. There are plenty of views to be had in every direction – after all, this is some of the most picturesque countryside in the north east.

Attractions and nearby amenities

  • The North York Moors is a vast expanse of heather moorland, with rivers flowing through the upland all the way to the North Sea, cutting out verdant green dales. This is a walker’s paradise, and mountain biking, horse riding and even open-air swimming are all on the menu.
  • One of the best ways to see the North York Moors is by train. Take the heritage North Yorkshire Moors Railway to travel through 24 miles of this unique landscape and get to experience what it was like to travel by steam.
  • The railway calls at the town of Pickering, where you’ll find a medieval castle, a museum and a stunning Saxon church, as well as contemporary boutiques and independent eateries. Pickering is a vibrant destination that is well-known as a hub for the performing arts, with three theatres in the town.
  • If you’re a fan of Dracula or all things Gothic, a trip to Whitby is a must. This is where the fictional Count first came ashore, but there are plenty of other reasons to come here too. With narrow, picturesque streets, a busy harbour and superb fish ‘n’ chips, you could make a day of it here.
  • The Yorkshire coastline has some big-hitting tourist attractions like Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. But just about any destination on this beautiful coastline is worth a visit. The beaches are long, golden and much less crowded than some further south, and the swell coming from the North Sea creates good conditions for surfers.
  • Bright beach huts, donkey rides, fish and chips and splendid Victorian architecture, Scarborough ticks all the boxes for a superb day out at the seaside.
  • Finally, if you’d like to enjoy some retail therapy, see some magnificent architecture or find out what it was like to be invaded by Vikings, don’t miss a visit to York. The Minster cathedral is stunning, the Jorvik Viking museum is an all-immersive experience, and there always seems to be a festival going on.
