Excellent holiday. Superb accommodation and facilities. Welcome pack a nice touch. Would recommend .
Thank you so much for your review - we are really pleased that you had an excellent holiday.
Beautiful, modern, spacious, equipped and characterful accomodation, with stunning views and breathtaking scenery. I would have appreciated a more meticulous cleaning but, in general, it's been a wonderful choice and I would definitely recommemd it.
We really enjoyed our stay at WOLF rock. It was a 60th birthday treat for my wife. She could not stop saying how much she was enjoying it. The weather was perfect and we were able to tour round cornwall. The accommodqtion was perfect, always warm and never cold. We would have liked to have access to the lighthouse but understood this was not possible.
Excellent stay again. Nice new bedroom furniture and freshly painted walls. Slight problem with the heating beyond anybody’s control but addressed quickly by housekeeper and rural retreats. Thoroughly recommend staying here.
Just amazing, super stay, very clean and lovely gift hamper **
The accommodation was wonderful - nicely decorated, clean, comfy beds, stunning views, and excellent location. We loved watching the boats and ships pass by and the sky at night was beautiful - loads of stars. The welcome bag of local goodies was really lovely too. The internet and phone signal were patchy (as it's a rural area) but it was actually better than I was expecting. We did experience the fog horn a couple of times, but it wasn't unexpected as it's still a working lighthouse - it was all part of the adventure. We also loved walking back from the village and seeing the lighthouse light at night. There was lots to explore in the local area and beyond - beaches, rivers, and we visited the Minack Theatre too. We had an amazing holiday and I would highly recommend Wolf Rock as a place to stay.
What a beautiful place to stay, great in all weather- and we had all weather! The property has been really tastefully updated to a high standard, is very comfortable and very well equipped. Loved the tower and ‘Paddington’ circular dining room. Lovely to have so much space too but the best part is obviously the location. Exceptional views and great base to explore the peninsula. Be aware that this is a functioning light house with a critical job to do so the synthetic fog horn can be operating every 30 seconds day or night in poor visibility and there is obviously a light circulating. We took it as part of the experience but if you need total quiet darkness to sleep then consider- ear plugs are provided 😀!
Beautiful accommodation and scenery. Lovely walks along the cliffs, to the Lizard point and in to the village.
We had a fantastic family Christmas at Wolf Rock. It was lovely to walk down to the sea and see the seals on Christmas day! The foghorn is not as bad as we all thought, did not use the earplugs once! It is a working lighthouse and the foghorn just adds to the experience of staying there. The kitchen had everything we needed, bathrooms and bedrooms were spacious too. Thanks to Jo for a lovely relaxing stay, we will be returning!
Great venue and some nice new furniture. Shame the welcome hamper is so very poor compared to what it used to be. Lovely new bathrooms but please buy some decent frying pans! A rag and bone man wouldn’t take the pans which are there now and the cutlery is a mishmash with blunt knives. The sofa cushions need hovering under too… not a nice assortment of debris under them - was the same last year here. It’s a great place though and thoroughly recommended. Even the fog horn is nice! Nowhere near as loud as I thought it would be. Very much worth staying here.
We had to move holiday accomodation for the last night when the letting agents became concerned about the state of the roof. It was strange since the clues were already there when we arrived - water stains on double bedroom door surround and landing carpet as well as very badly peeling paint on ceiling of twin bedroom. This was not a new problem and it spoilt what had been a lovely holiday. We had planned a grand final dinner in the tower dining room but we ended up packing up our belongings and moving to a not so nice cottage in the dark.
Perfect location staying in a historical building. The property was clean and well presented. First time we stayed in a light house but hopefully not the last. Local village was only 15 min walk and had an excellent coffee shop and two great pubs.
A lovely, unique place to stay. We really enjoyed our week at Wolf Rock. We were even lucky to get the fog horn twice! The house is finished to a high standard and is equipped with everything you need.
On arrival at night the lighthouse was quite spectacular against the starry sky with the moon reflecting off the water. Inside Wolf Rock we were very pleasantly surprised at the size as the photos online did not do it justice. Also the living room had updated sofa, tv and wifi. Stayed there with two children and 4 adults and it was never crowded. Loved the location and overall facilities were great. Obviously as a historic building there were a couple of things that needed some TLC and updating but I would still 100% recommend and stay again.
Joanne fantastic property was great, as a repeat customer fabulous location, property really clean . As the face of Rural Retreats/ Trinity Joanne is priceless, hope she is appreciated
Great location and some where very different to stay.
Wolf Rock Cottage is steeped in history. and you can't help but wonder who has walked along the huge stone flags in the hallway or climbed the stairs to the lookout tower. Its location at the Lizard Lighthouse provides stunning sea views and, of course, the beauty of the lighthouse at night - and the foghorn, which off a few times. The cottage itself is very well equipped- tt's perhaps not luxurious but it certainly has everything you could need, the beds are very comfortable and the property was lovely and warm. A radio in the kitchen or sitting room would be nice but it is available via the TV. The lookout tower is really what makes this property. Aside from a little fog (more of that later) we had superb weather so didn't get to storm watch from the tower. Our only criticism would be that the seating in the tower isn't very comfortable and not conducive to sitting up there for any length of time. Another comfy chair or two would help people make the most of it. Some things have been removed due to covid precautions (cling film etc) so perhaps the website/arrival info could be updated to advise of this. There are areas of paintwork that are flaking off and could do wiht a repaint and neither of the fans worked in the bathroom, which will cause issues in time - the property just seems a little unloved in areas and it's a wonderful place. On to the foghorn - It's not like the foghorn sound of my childhood (a deep tuba-esq note) but more of a mid tone, which took a while for us to fathom out what it was at first, thinking it was a low oil warning or carbon monoxide sensor! It was only on opening the front door that we realised it was the foghorn. We managed to sleep through it and the earplugs worked and you do get used to it. This is a working lighthouse so do not stay here if you can't cope with the foghorn! All in all a superb cottage and we would love to return- and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
If you get the chance to visit during the winter months do so. Very tidy and spacious
Location brilliant. Felt supported with contact easy with housekeeper and Rural Retreats. Loved the hamper. Issues with decor peeling ?damp. No bathroom upstairs but realise you can't change that. TV too small. But having said that unique experience.
Really enjoyed it - Good all round facilities and great to have the viewing tower included in the cottage we stayed in. Short walk to village with shops and pubs etc, fabulous coastal walks, beautiful scenery
