Some problems with gate lock. From previous Rural Retreats, had expected some tea and/or coffee. There was some milk, also sugar and fudge (which we didn’t need) left., but that was all, so it didn't feel very welcoming.. It would be good to have some passing places on the road. There were some areas where this would have been possible without too much work. The cottage was warm and cosy with good WiFi reception and overall we enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

An excellent location but the cottage could benefit from more maintenance particularly with the bathroom, where the door catch was missing and we had visitors all week in the form of woodlice from under the bath. It would have been helpful to store our vehicle in one of the garages on site as we had to remove sea salt from the car after a drenching each time from the sea during the storms. Note; the winds can be extremely strong and will easily remove hats, spectacles and blow you off your feet! The accommodation is very clean and comfortable and is publicized as a 'heritage building' yet we noticed all the internal heritage features like vent grilles painted or plastered over and the wonderful window locks left dulled and covered in paint flecks from poor decoration.

A beautiful remote location, with direct access to SW coast path for walks along this spectacular coastline (a little strenuous in places). Mortehoe is a charming village, and the surrounding towns, villages and beaches are all worth visiting, some within walking distance if you are energetic. The cottage was spotlessly clean, in excellent condition, and more spacious than we were expecting. The bed was comfortable and the shower excellent. We had a great week.

It was a real joy to stay at the Warden at Bull Point Lighthouse and we enjoyed our stay immensely. From the beginning of our search for a holiday at a lighthouse cottage, my husband previously being a lighthouse keeper, we were impressed with the efficiency, friendliness, and helpfulness of Rural Retreats with whom we booked. Lisa, the housekeeper, was also very thoughtful and helpful, providing us with all the relevant information. Situated in a wonderful, peaceful position at the lighthouse, we thoroughly relaxed in the beautiful and glorious surroundings. The cottage was spotless, beautifully decorated, and tastefully furnished. Everything we needed was provided. We can thoroughly recommend this cottage for an amazing and restful holiday.

My stay at the Warden Bull Point Lighthouse was absolutely wonderful. The scenery is incredible, it was a dream to stay there. The cottage was lovely, very clean, decorated with taste and it had a wonderful home-y feel to it. Everything was perfect! Rural Retreats did a great job with their arrival manual and the landlady Lisa was nice and efficient as well, so it was not any trouble finding the lighthouse and getting in the cottage on my own. I had the smallest car I could rent which was a great choice on my part since the road to get to the lighthouse is very narrow, so that's something to consider if you want to book this cottage too ;) The villages surrounding the area were absolutely adorable too, by the way. It's very easy to get to the beaches nearby by car and there are also a lot of beautiful walking trails scattered around. I would definitely recommend booking this place if you want a quiet original place to stay in and be surrounded by amazing landscapes anywhere you look. I know that I will definitely go back someday!

Always a great place to stay and a wonderful cozy atmosphere. The cottage (Warden) is just for two people and is so beautifully appointed. The kitchen is well appointed and the living room had new sofas and soft furnishings. The bedroom is always cozy. The bed linen is soft and white and the pillows are great, beautifully soft and gentle. The cottage is right on the coastal path so ideal for walks to Woolacombe or Lee valley. The scenery is stunning. I would urge Rural Retreats to ensure guests are informed to close and lock the gates. There is no way through the property to the coastal path but if the gates are open folk wander in and past your living room window or worse still bedroom window trying to find a way on to the path. The ‘NO access to lighthouse and coastal path’ signage needs renewing.

A delightful surprise. The cottage is warm and cosy yet bright and airy. It was very clean and welcoming and the welcome pack much appreciated. It was very comfortable everywhere with everything we needed. We slept very well in absolute peace and quiet. The views are amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed the cliff walks. The lighthouse of course was lovely. We will definitely return knowing we shall have a great holiday.

Great location & views. Well appointed accomodation,clean & tidy. All the pre information by and large was acurate, relevant & helpful. Minor irritations that prevented a 5* review; 1.Pre holiday info stated sugar would be provided - it wasn't and I hate tea without sugar... 2. No travel toiletries were available - also on arrival guide 3. Light bulb in lounge had blown, there were some other spares but not for lounge. 4. Some areas of bathroom looking tired and in need of repair/replacement. 5. Although water was plenty hot for shower etc couldn't get hot water for a bath. Only tepid...... None of the above spoilt what was a lovely weekend in a unique and historic location

Lovely quiet location and comfortable good quality furnishings. The concrete table and bench on the grass outside the shared properties has been removed, and 2 wooden chairs provided by the wall: but an outside table would be very useful. We'd also appreciate a couple more mugs or cups, so it's worth putting on the dish-washer. The only slight issue was a couple of times that people sent drones over the property (from what we call raven crag above).

A very nice location. A couple of issues on arrival: 1. the bathroom was not clean and we had to clean it ourselves. 2. The TV stopped working but Rural Retreats sent a TV repair company round very quickly and they fitted a new one. 3. wifi is very poor in this property. So if communication with the outside world is key then this can be an issue. A great location with stunning views and walks, nevertheless.
