Minafon holiday home details

Bodnant is a beautiful agricultural estate set in hilly and wooded countryside in the lower reaches of the Conwy Valley. Minafon is a recently refurbished holiday cottage that puts you on the edge of this splendid estate and at the heart of the stunning North Wales landscape. There are miles of private woodland paths to explore and there’s even a small stream running through Minafon’s secluded and private garden.

The cottage is a beautifully simple property, restored to a high standard yet decorated in the traditional style, with exposed stone walls and wooden beams and plain white tiles in the kitchen that are the perfect foil for the sweeping views from the window. The cottage occupies an elevated position on the edge of the estate, so you’ll probably find yourself gazing out onto the River Conwy or the mountains of Snowdonia beyond.

The property may be simple, but there are little touches of luxury, like underfloor heating throughout, and a wood burning stove to cosy up to in the evenings. All logs for the wood burner are included in your stay. Whether you’re hankering after some relaxing seclusion or you’d like to get out and about in the beautiful countryside, Minafon is your ideal base.

Attractions and nearby amenities

  • The Bodnant Estate is a tourist attraction in itself – in fact, you could spend your whole holiday without leaving the grounds. As well as the walks through the attractive countryside, you’ll find the Bodnant Welsh Food Centre, where you can purchase gorgeously fresh local produce, as well as a tea rooms offering light refreshments. There’s even the National Beekeeping Centre, where you can come and learn about bee-keeping and buy locally farmed honey.
  • Feeling adventurous? Then you might want to visit the Zip World Fforest, where you can explore the tree canopy on a zip safari or bounce on treetop nets. Or there’s the Zip World Slate Caverns, where you can fly along a zip line or enjoy the all-weather underground adventures.
  • Surf Snowdonia is the world’s first inland surf lagoon, where you’re guaranteed to catch a wave. The technology can create a wide variety of wave profiles, including gentle swells if you’re new to surfing. If that whets your appetite to get wet, you can try sailing, windsurfing and kayaking at Colwyn Bay Watersports too.
  • Beaumaris, Caernarvon, Harlech… North Wales is a land of castles and perhaps one of the most evocative is Conwy Castle. Its towers dominate the town from every direction. You can walk through the ruins of the castle and explore the well-preserved medieval walls in the town too.
  • Situated near Colwyn Bay, the Welsh Mountain Zoo is home to some magnificent species, including snow leopards and the Andean condor.
  • There’s no getting away from the mountains in this part of the world, and if you’d like to get out and experience their beauty first-hand, the peaks of Snowdonia are just a short drive away. This is a National Park that offers plenty for the visitor, including everything from golfing to caving and from bird watching to horse riding. You can even take a train to the top of Snowdon and enjoy a cup of coffee in the café at the top.
